Attention fellow confused customers!!ZoeI figured out how to get them in!! For one you’re probably freaking out because “7.5 watt” bulbs don’t exist other than on eBay for $40! Or you bought the 7watt and are scared they aren’t fitting in how you like and they feel super loose. I took the advice of one of the reviewers and (unplugged the lamp first) and push the lil prongs you see inside the fixture just a lil more out so it’s a tighter fit then take a piece of duct tape and put it on the side, once you’d finally gotten it into the lil holes (snd not the screw holes) you’ll pull the duct tape the same way you’d use tape to unscrew a tight pickle jar. It works!!!!!! I hope this helps everyone like it did me because I feared I wasted money too 5
Packaging, installing bulbs far too difficult.GeoffreyI've never had a more difficult time with an IKEA product, frankly with any product, than I did with this lamp. The lamp comes packed in an L shaped box with the heavy base on the lower wider end, and the other parts in the narrower upper part of the L. It was unwieldy and difficult to open. I gave up on trying to open the package, and just cut it apart with a knife.
The lamp is much smaller than I expected; that's my fault for not scrutinizing the dimensions. The the 3 individual light "cans" are extremely narrow, so installing the bulb --which requires inserting tabs into small holes without being able to see them, and then twisting them is a challenge for adult human hands.
There is almost no clearance, it's hard to align when you can't see the bottom where the pins insert. After fifteen minutes, I got the first bulb almost seated and found that you don't have to simply twist, you have to really WRENCH the bulb to seat it.
After all that, it's pretty dim. 2
Perfect lamp for task readingLarryThis is a beautiful, minimalist task lamp that's perfect for reading. It's easy to assemble and looks great. I'm very pleased with it, in fact, I went and bought a second one! 5
Very stylishKristinaWe love our new floor lamp. It looks so stylish and modern. We didn't have any problems with assembling it as it was said in previous reviews. Going to buy more.5
The bulb sockets are loose.ChelseaAfter further research, I found that the Nymane floor lamp has had previous issues of the bulbs not connecting correctly. This is a major issue, since it can also cause a fire hazard from its loose connection. It's a good design, but it's not worth risking my safety for.2
Bedroom lightReneIt works great as a reading light and lighting up the bedroom5
Excellent product, good value ..MichaelExcellent product, good value ..5
The other reviews are accurate to an extentSalomonYes, the lamps are hard to access. You might need small fingers, patience, ninja like reflexes and dexterity to install them correctly.
It is however very beautiful and elegant in appearance (the geometric cylinders and lines) so it blends well into a minimalistic aesthetic (studio).
The lamps you need aren't a conventional configuration. You'll need lamps with a GU10 base (the ones that latch into place, instead of twisting)3
Nice lampKaylaIt's a nice lamp for the price. I love the appearance, the base is very sturdy, and it's nice that you can turn each light on and off individually. My only criticisms are 1) the pole itself is a bit wobbly, no matter how tightly I twist the pieces together. If the base weren't so heavy, it'd be a much bigger issue, but I can live with it. 2) Would be nice if the bulbs came with the lamp. I had no idea they were sold separately when I purchased in-store. Only found out after I'd taken the two hour drive home and put the lamp together... not the best way to end my IKEA shopping spree.3
Great muti-purpose lampTerryI put this lamp in a corner and use one or two of the lights to uplight the darker area and the other as a task or reading light. I needed something that would fit in a small spot so I could open and close curtains without them hitting a wide lampshade. This fit the bill perfectly.5
It is a good floor lamp for additional visibily when workingRobertaWe are using the lamp regularly and like it--would have been nice to have in a color other than white though.4
Love how strong it isRosaLove how strong it is & looks.5
Nice lamp, tricky bulbsTendaPros: reasonably priced, slim design that is right for our space, 3 independent lights allow for both task & general lighting and different amounts of light, assembly of the lamp itself was easy
Cons: the cans fit so close around the bulbs--had to use silicone-coated kitchen tongs to hold them while inserting (maybe tiny fingers would be able to fit), they aren't the usual screw-in bulbs but you have to insert prongs and twist--took an excessive amount of force to do so, 2 of the 3 bulbs were too loose in the cans (fell out, didn't stay lit) and we had to ultimately bend the prongs to make it work--not sure how we'll get them out when the bulbs need replacing (our past experience with IKEA brand bulbs is that they don't last anywhere near the number of hours listed on the box); would be nice if it came in colors other than just white (black, metallic)4
Nice and brightDonnaPerfect for small living room to brighten the room. Just perfect.4
5 after difficult bulb placementCathyLove the as its works perfect for place I needed it and the white next to a blue chair looks great! I had a lot of difficulty getting the bulbs to set correctly. Took three days of trying to get the last bulb to set.5
