Not what it used to be!KT00As with many of the things IKEA is selling, looking into past 10 years, the quality goes down (compared to what it used to be) while the price stays or goes up. We bought the futon bed with the mattress sometimes in 2010, nice and sturdy frame, that is still in very good shape. Being sustainable, and not willing to throw completely functional thing away, we decided that after 10 years of almost daily use, it's time to change the mattress. Well, it's completely different mattress, a cheaply made cousin of what it used to be. First it's missing a couple of inches from the length (still working though), second it's missing at least couple of inches (and I would say more) from height, making it thin pancake-y kind mattress. Third the thinness results in very firm mattress. The mattress form 10 years ago, used to be firm, too. However, now it's even more. All in all, if you are buying this as a new set (frame and mattress), I would not recommend buying it. The new frame, based on my observation, is cheap frame that is not going to last long. The mattress likewise. I recommend visit some other store (or their website) and have it shipped for free, unlike IKEA. If you are in need of buying new mattress only, like we were. It's doable, however be aware of the changes and the quality.2
memas11This was a hard to find to fit item. I have four Futons purchased at Ikea over the past 20 years and when one of the mattresses gave out I was unable to find a replacement thru Ikea or any other site. Thank goodness one of the salespersons was helpful because the phone customer service person wasn't at all4
Not very comfortableBramble03We tried the sleeper that was on the floor and it was very comfortable! We did not realize that there were two different mattress options. The one we tried was the spring one but we ended up with this foam one. It’s very dense with little to no give. I wish we would have gotten the spring one. We live far from an IKEA to exchange anytime soon .2
So far so good!Jlao1013We bought this mattress along with the futon for our guest room/ office. We def prefer the foam over the spring mattress for a futon type setup. So far we have had two guests and both said it was comfy! A little on the firmer side, so depending on preference that could be negative or positive. But you could always add a mattress topper to soften it up. Full size sheets fit nicely. It did have kind of a weird scent to it out of the packaging that took a while to air out... so that’s the only real reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars, but overall I would recommend it. It works for what we need it for!4
Simple lookcacsunriseSo far, the padding is fairly comfortable and firm. However, it does stick out past the frame, so may get more worn on edges and deteriorate faster than the rest.3
louiechitownI was looking for a comfortable, affordable sleeper for visitors.5

Very firm. Need extra sitting pillows to helpApril SueThe futon this mattress was on was hanging on the wall and it felt comfortable and squishy. We’ve had it a month and it’s very firm. I sit on extra pillows for comfort2
UsefulRiver Song 1When I bought this I was planning on a nice extra foam layer on the twin bed I have. I was a bit surprised that it was as large as it was- that said it unzipped and it worked out fine -4
