The idea with MISTERHULT was to make a lamp with a minimal environmental footprint. By letting bamboo, that otherwise would be discarded, enhance the lamp’s expression, we harness the plant more than twice as much.

Each lamp is unique since it is made of bamboo with natural color variations and is hand-woven by skilled craftspeople.

When we developed the MISTERHULT lamp series, we let parts of the bamboo plant, that otherwise would be discarded, become part of the expression ― meaning we harness each plant more than twice as much.

Poor build quality, pieces don't sit properlyKeeneIndividually, the two pieces of this lamp look alright in quality, however they don't seem to fit together well. The top piece sits crooked on the bowl, leaving a 3-4mm gap no matter how it's oriented and it wobbles when touched. It seems like it should click into place, but it does not, leaving the lamp unstable. I'm using the recommended bulb as well so it shouldn't be an incompatibility issue with the lightbulb2

Beautifully handmadeInaLooks great in my naturalistic home design. When lit, the shades are beautiful. I have the big MISTERHULT also, love it! You can upgrade the lamp using a smart bulb and a smart button, do dimmer it or turn on/off from a distance.5

Only worked for 6 monthsJenniferI really love this lamp for many reasons! The lighting is perfect and the pattern looks so great. But the one gripe I have is that one day a month ago, it suddenly stopped working. I have multiple bulbs and switched them out, but none succeeded at getting the lamp to work again. I got this in July 2022.3

Wish I bought a bulbNicoleI love the lamp and realize it is all my fault but I can’t give it 5 stars without a bulb. They really should remind you that their lamps take special bulbs. A sticker on the box or just training the cashiers to ask if you purchased a bulb. So there it sits until I can make another trip to ikea. They do sell them on Amazon but they are expensive and I only need one.4

What is bamboo?

Strong, flexible and one of the world's fastest growing plants – bamboo has many uses that make it an excellent renewable material. It’s a type of grass and usually grows without the need for fertilizers or irrigation. After being harvested, it grows new shoots that are ready for harvesting after 4-6 years. At IKEA, we use bamboo for items like furniture, bathroom decor, baskets and lamps – and we are constantly exploring more areas of use for this versatile material.
