Defective bed frame, unreasonable resolution after 5-hour assemblyZiyanI spent few hours assembling this bed frame exactly according to the instructions. Only after the assembly was almost complete did we discover serious issues: a bolt in the middle could not be tightened due to a defect, the bed frame is not level with the floor, and the included tool broke after minimal use. These are manufacturing and quality issues, not installation errors.
DO NOT BUY THIS KathleenTrust me on this - it squeaks and is shakey/unstable. Not worth it pick something else. The design is not stable and the underbed drawers are already broken after only a few months...Ive had other IKEA bed frames and they were great but this one is terrible.

Not badJamesIn general, I've been satisfied with this bed, having had it for over 3 years now. But one thing I dislike about is that the wooden support frame under the mattress comes in TWO pieces, rather than in one piece live the previous IKEA bed I owned. This creates a depression in the middle of the bed where I sleep, which I don't like. Otherwise, the bed is fine. (And yes, I have already contacted IKEA to see if I could buy a one-piece support frame off of them, but they say they don't make them for the MALM bed.)
Comfortable but very noisy, very disappointedDeniseDaughter picked out the bedroom set and hired task rabbit to build furniture, but bed is so noisy. I can hear the noise from any movement on the 1st floor or down the hall with the bedroom door closed. My daughter can’t study in bed and sometimes the noise even wakes her up! First and last bed purchase from IKEA. Will go back to higher quality manufacturer.
Horrible, frustrating bed!!!ElizabethPlease whatever you do DO NOT buy this bed! The wooden slats shift so easily and brake so I’m constantly rearranging them and have gotten horrible sleep from the slats falling down if I shift in bed. Especially if you have a smaller space, this bed is very frustrating to deal with because the drawers need a lot of space to open up. Because the mattress isn’t on a platform, changing bedding is soo annoying. Also, it’s very inconvenient to clean!! I’m sure there’s other beds that exist with storage that work better but this one for sure is a nightmare overall to deal with

Solid design - Good valueTyroneI've had this bed for 4 years now and it has worked very well for us. No squeaks, good bed support, and overall good looking. I came here to get the specs, as we are getting ready to sell it. I was surprised at the number of people that complain about things they have caused by assembling it badly. Noise, breaking mattress supports, etc. Mine does none of these things and we know the kits are all identical. Of course this is made with veneers and engineered wood. It is an Ikea product. You have to be a bit gentle with it or you will strip out screw holes or other fasteners and reduce the structural integrity. If a buyer is not experienced with assembling Ikea products, bring in someone who is. I recommend this bed frame. It was comfortable, has good storage, and has performed well for 4 years.
Bed broke right after assembly. Couldn’t support mattress bought from ikea itself. TalekThe assembly of this bed was hard but even after all that hard work, the bed broke as soon as I put the mattress and sat on it. The support underneath is flimsy and the slats are hard to keep on. Overall disappointing purchase. I want to return it but I’ve already assembled it so I guess I have no choice but to buy another bed frame.
Squeaking NightmareBaileyI've owned this bed for 2 1/2 years now, its seated on carpet so it shifts super easily, if the side rails aren't 100% straight the metal rails start squeaking with just rolling over or getting into bed, its so embarrising. I've tried felt pads, tightening/loosening hardware, the only solution is to ankle the bed skirting a tiny bit and it MIGHT stop it if you hit the right angle, but after waking up the bed has shifted due to simple movement in your sleep. Im not even a huge person or sleeping with a partner, driving me insane but cant afford a new bed for just a squeak issue. DO NOT BUY SAVE THE HEADACHE.

So noisyPresliThe bed itself is modern and pretty looking & has great storage. However, it creaks SO bad. I can’t even sit on it without it making a noise and just moving slightly throughout the night it makes the loudest noise. Do NOT recommend because of the loud, obnoxious creaking!

False Color AdvertisementWillWhen viewing this page, the product appears to be a wonderful shade of gray. The color name matched with the photos is ‘Dark Brown Veneer’. In all of the product photos, none of the colors appear to be a dark brown, and every image with a dark gray is labeled as this dark brown veneer color.
In person & in store, the gray color that is advertised in photos is not the actual color of the item. The images shown when viewing ‘Dark Brown Veneer’ are for a gray color which is not available for this product in any capacity.
Extremely upsetting to waste my day and money finding an item online which I believe to fit my needs, drive into the store, only to see that the color that was advertised is not in fact the color of the item.
If it was a simple mix up of the wrong color being linked to the wrong image I would understand, however the fact that the gray color in all online images was not something this product came in is unacceptable.
