A mattress base has two big advantages. It makes your bed higher and it helps your mattress keep its shape longer by distributing your body weight, providing extra support and lightening the load.

PerfectMinnieThe foundation is perfect. Keeps me off the floor, is not over tall and protects my mattress.
Easy to put together and take apart once I move. No complaints
Unnecessary purchase when you also get a bed frame DanielaWhen buying the bed frame there are 3 options for the base, the Luroy (cheapest- just the slats), the Lonset (price in the middle, slats with silicone ends) and the Lyngor (most expensive, a whole base with slats).
I got the most expensive, this one, thinking it was just probably the best, which it was a good product with good quality, easy to assemble, I also found it super stable after 1 week of usage. My issue was that I found it totally unnecessary when you also buy a bed frame which already has a base structure and also my mattress was high enough and made the bed super tall, I almost had to climb to the bed every night. Hehe
Long story short, I ended up exchanging the bed base for the Longset base, which makes more sense since I already got the bed frame and now the bed has a regular height.
Anyway for the 1 week of usage I think it was a good product and would recommend when you don’t have already a bed frame.
CreakySamI bought this and also bought ikea legs separately. I needed an affordable bed frame and this was the cheapest. You get what you pay for. It creaks, the screws have to be tightened, it was not fun to assemble, just not a good buy
The twin beds are great!JanetGood value. Good quality. The process of purchasing and having delivered was easy and efficient.
Confusing ChoicesClareThis item worked fine, and we’ve had no issues since we’ve installed it and used it on the bed. But it was very confusing to try to determine what foundation we should choose. IKEA give you at least two choices, and I really couldn’t tell when I was trying to buy it what the best choice would be for me. In the end, I just chose the most expensive choice, hoping that in this case price would mean higher quality. But that may not be the case and I probably spent money I didn’t need to. All that said, maybe I’m just an old lady who doesn’t understand things, but it was confusing for me.
Beam brokeEvelynThe center beam broke less than 6 months of using the bed. My mattress got messed up when it broke. Husband and I don’t weigh a lot. It broke right at the places the wood was glued and pressed together! Called and they said no warranty and sold me instead a metal center pieces I have to pay for, not sure if that will work, it is unclear if it will fit this bed or not.
Worked okay for awhileGrace But the beam broke too. Just like everyone else's. So sad ):
Beam brokeKevinI didn't see any reviews about the beam breaking before I bought this bed frame in September but it looks like several people have had similar issues in the past month or two so I'm guessing Ikea cut some corners in their production without telling anybody.
The most frustrating part is that the beam is unable to be ordered as a replacement part with the rest of the pieces for some reason so I'm stuck with a sagging, unsupportive bed with no way to fix it.
terribleNicoleThe beam broke and I have also been trying to
find replacement slats. I Ended up buying the only slats available which was the full/double but they do not fit. When I first purchased this, the frame and slats were all available to purchase separately. Now I can’t find the correct slats anywhere. I’m forced to buy an entire new bed
Center beam will sag GeraldLess than 6 months old. Center beam is sagging pretty good when we are on the bed. Not sure it’s gonna last much longer. Need to check to see if it’s been 180 days. Disappointed in the quality of the center beam. Other than that it’s a good looking frame. Wish I would have read the reviews before we bought it.
Middle beam broke, just like everyone else'sCourtneyJust like many other reviewers, we barely had this a year and the middle beam cracked! It collapsed one night while my husband and I were just relaxing (no funny business). We aren't even overweight and were shocked, to say the least. I had an Ikea bed that lasted over ten years before any signs of wear showed up, but gone are those days. The quality of some pieces has really declined, this item being no exception;
. The middle beam is basically no better than particleboard since it's just small segments of wood glued together with no reinforcement. I can't find my receipt from so long ago, and I usually pay with cash, so my options for recourse are limited. Very disappointing! Do not buy unless you are sleeping solo and only weigh 100 pounds.
Not what was shown in storeDebbieI went to the store to see if this was based on a solid piece of wood instead of the dreaded slates that always break or fall apart. Just got rid of another bed, because of this issue. Went to the store and looked under the mattress and I thought it was a solid piece of wood to lay the mattress on. Returning it immediatley having just open the box and surprise...slates again.
Great replacement for box springRobertWe bought this foundation (and a mattress) to replace a box spring/mattress that had worn out. It's the best choice we could make. We were able to fit in into our small SUV with the back seat down; it assembled very easily (but it DOES take two people!), and it just dropped in to the supports on the bed frame. The slats support the mattress fully and we've been getting great sleeps from the combination. This foundation has flat slats -- IKEA has others with a slight curve that might be a better choice for people with more weight, but the flat slats don't seem to deform under 200 pounds of weight. We've already recommended it to someone else in our building who needed to replace a bed.
Beam will break since it's glued togetherYaoscaBought in June 2024 full size, mid beam broke right before New Year's yesterday. Was in the middle of sleeping and was alarmed at the sound and jolt. Ikea DO BETTER. This is a safety hazard to person and property. Thankfully had under the bed storage which broke the break of the mid beam. Otherwise I think my floor would have been damaged.
Ikea , please at least sell a SOLID wood replacement beam separately like you do for the metal MALM if you know the glued version will encounter problems. Buyer beware.
I will say the initial assembly and experience of a new box spring was great. But the middle beam was not meant to last/ endure. Again it's glued together. $200 is overpriced for the type of product this ended up being which cut corners.
Decent at bestJackAssembly is easy and straightforward, and the look is clean and simple.
My complaint is with the sturdiness: I went through two mattresses (one hybrid one memory foam, queen) then realized this frame isn't very supportive. My frame is on carpet (no legs), but I found that the center beam deflects downwards under my weight (160 lbs) after I took a video from under the bed to observe it when I lay on it. The slats also seem to deflect.
The center beam is 2" x 3" pine, which generally speaking, is a WEAK wood. I don't know why they didn't use a metal beam, like MALM.
To fix the issue (because overall I like the look), I added two 2x4 framing studs supported by joist hangers down the length of the frame, right under the middles of the slats on each side, and a beam underneath all the beams across the width. The frame now supports my weight MUCH better. ~$20 in parts.
For ~$200 USD, I shouldn't need to do this, and I'm not a heavyset person. IKEA's cost reduction doesn't help anyone.
Great, until it broke!SarahWe had our queen size Lyngor for just under 6 months. Easy to assemble, seemed sturdy and provided what we needed. It was great! Especially for a tighter budget and saving some space with having no headboard or footboard. Well, at around 4:45 AM while in deep sleep, my husband and I woke up to a BANG and realized upon waking that we were in some contorted positions. The mid beam down the center had just completely given out and broke where it was glued and pressed together with the way it's constructed.
We called customer service and we went to the store to exchange the bed. But upon being in the warehouse, we saw a MALM on sale for only $45 more that had a metal mid beam instead. After some back and forth, we settled on the MALM instead for the added assurance of having a metal beam. Together my husband and I barely weigh 340lbs. I cannot find a weight limit for this item, but I would surely think it should be rated for at least 400lbs or more?
Sounds like a machine gunBoeunIt’s so loud it sounds like a machine gun. It stresses me out so much and it also wakes my baby up. Please help!
Terrible serviceMarcelArrived with incorrect parts, missing parts, terrible assistance as well. My first and last experience with Ikea. Don't use IKEA, terrible in every aspect.
Poor quality controlChristopherArrived with incorrectly drilled holes one of the longer side panels. Off by about 1cm making assembly impossible. I have tried calling the Renton branch and each time they choose to disconnect the call after I explain the issue. The one time i got half way through the call they expect you to hand deliver the incorrect part (a giant piece of wood) back to them, even though I had paid for deliver of the items initially.
Perfect for our needs, easy to assembleGregoryI bought an IKEA mattress several years ago, which I used originally on a platform bed. I later substituted that bed for a sleigh type bed, with a box spring mattress. But in about a year, I found that my back was beginning to hurt because the combination was too soft, even after I added a thin plywood board on top of the box spring.
I was considering expensive replacements (new box spring and new mattress) at some of the mattress stores - when I found the Lyngör bed frame, which fits inside the sleigh bed and converts it to a platform bed type. It has worked out very well. My back problems are massively better, and I saved thousands of dollars by purchasing the Lyngör frame.
I found it easy to assemble. It was clearly and carefully labeled so that it would be very difficult to do mess up the installation. You will need a second person to move the platform once assembled (and handy to have second person in last stages of assembly anyway).
An excellent solution for us.
