Sturdy, useful cup holderNancyInstalled this cup holder on the edge of my art desk so I can either put a beverage or water cup for painting. Great design and sturdy.5
Practical and pretty, but expensive and needs an angle option for side useRegisThis no-spill coffee cup holder is extremely practical. The natural wood version is also beautiful. (In-store, the black version looked too industrial for my taste.)
The price seems high for a simple item.
Because the coffee mug's handle must face forward, this product isn't ideal for use beside your chair, sofa or bed. Ikea should pre-drill two more sets of holes so you can unscrew the metal bracket and re-attach it at 45 degrees in either direction. This puts your mug's handle at an angle, making it easy to grasp from the side.
To do it yourself, you need a protractor, wide masking tape (2 cm), drill bits approximately 4 mm and 5 mm, a Metric M4 hex screw (10 mm long if you countersink it, 15 mm otherwise), and a matching hex key. Tape from the top, use a pen to poke holes, move your tape template 45 degrees clockwise (if mounting to your right) or counter-clockwise (if mounting to your left), then drill 3 new holes. Use a hex key to tighten the new screw from above.

Handy for gamers!LisaBought for my son to put his drink in while he is on his computer gaming. He likes not having to worry about knocking he drink over.5
Amazing!MikeTo make something as simple as a cupholder so high quality is truly amazing. Not only is the cupholder amazing, Ikea is amazing. This isn't the best cupholder by a mile, it's the best cupholder by a universe.5
Desk Mug HolderAnneMug holder frees up desk space, love it!5
Bought One, Came Back for Another LynnI bought one for my desk so I could keep liquids away from my work. It worked as planned! I realized I could use one on my small dinette table in my camper as well to keep drinks from spilling when someone is sitting there while I drive! Perfect use. 5
Didn't know I needed this!NancyI bought one in poor shape in AS-IS. I love it! It is clamped to my bedside table for my water bottle.
So... I bought a second one. I maybuy a 3rd. Very useful!!!5
Holds UpCarlosWhat can I say, was it was a little hard to install?!
NO WAY! Perfect.5
Will not hold standard mugsAnriGood as far as build quality and appearance is concerned, but the cutout is too high to work as intended--none of the coffee mugs I own can fit into the cup holder without skewing, because of their handles. I can make it work if I stack some cupholders into the holder, but this is a pretty serious design oversight--why bother making a cutout for mug handles if it doesn't work for most mugs?2
Mug holder AndyCool design, easy to use 5
Cup holderMarcellaGreat idea!!! There is no chance of me tipping my cup over and getting stuff on my desk ruined !! 5
SturdyMichelleWorks great on the game table. And sturdy too. 5
Solid, and fits my Nalgene!AnonymousAgree with the reviews that call out the slit not being long/low enough for a lot of coffee mug handles - easily fixed by adding a few thick coasters in to the bottom. It fits my 32 oz. Nalgene water bottle perfectly. My desk has a bevel that's about 1" deep, and the clamp is deep enough to clamp to my desk past the bevel. 5
This is so cool!DIt’s one of the more higher priced items I think for a cupholder from IKEA but I spent the $16 and attached it to my desk at work and it’s so awesome and huge and something I’ve never seen before anywhere else. It will remain a permanent fixture on my desk.
My sister and I both thought it was so neat that we each got one5
Lanespelare cup holderTammyThis cup holder is amazing! As a quilter I love to have my coffee or water next to me. This cup holder fits so nicely in my sewing studio, I have them attached to 3 of 4 workstations. I love it so much I even got one to take to retreats. It’s better and less expensive than the ones sold by quilt shops!5
One Major IssueChristopherIt's a cup holder that clamps to a work surface, so let's start there. The clamp is made of metal and holds great. Both of the points of contact have foam that keeps desks from getting scratched. This component is securely attached to the wood cup holder. This thing has one job: to hold a cup. Unfortunately, the cutout doesn't accommodate most of my cups because the cutout stops about 2/3 of the way down from the top. This cutout should've been taken nearly to the bottom so that it would accept all common coffee cups. It's impractical to buy cups specifically for the cup holder, so two stars off because it's a you-had-one-job situation. Not all is lost, because it does hold cups without handles. I'm giving three stars because the build quality is great, they look fantastic on my IKEA desks, and do the job (albeit with my coffee cups tilted forward because of where all my cups' handles are positioned). Would've easily been a 5-star. Try again!3
Good but not watertight StephanieVery easy to attach, move around, and remove if and when necessary. Fits a variety of cup and mug sizes. However, if you have something like a standard coffee mug with a handle that sits low, it will not sit properly in the cup holder because the slit is not deep enough. However, that being said, if you have something with a handle, it can stick out of that slit which is nice. Painted wood, but not watertight. So, I trimmed the edges off of one of the cork coasters that they sell, to fit it inside, problem solved. Comes in more than one color, but the black fit my needs the best. Makes it far less likely that I am going to spill something all over my keyboard or paperwork.4
desk cup holderPatrickeasy to install, usable5
Worst purchase I have ever madeSophiaI have a MALM Desk from IKEA and this cup holder does not fit. How does an IKEA cup holder not fit an IKEA desk. Also, it does not fit my hydroflask when it has a protective boot on. Please this design is so awful.1
HandyMargaretI attached mine to the front of my drafting table that I use to do my diamond art. I can keep my cup of coffee near by. My coffee cups don’t sit in there perfectly but my travel mug and glasses do. So it depends on your mug handle. 4
