Just what I wanted with some caveatsMeghanLove this couch. The chaise is so comfortable that I rarely use the seats. Meaning my chaise is quite comfy but the seats are still kind of hard, so it does require some breaking in. Building it was fine until I reached a part where one piece couldn’t reach where it needed to. Did research and even called IKEA, but eventually just decided to drill a closer hole, and it worked great. My cat does like scratching the fabric, but I got some clear plastic sheets from Amazon and those work great. I have washed the covers on cold (and didn’t dry), and still had an awful time getting them back on, so be careful. Beware, I got the anthracite color/fabric and it does bleach from benzoyl peroxide.
I love this couchEmilyI personally love this couch! Had no problems putting it together and no problems with the couch covers. It’s excellent and I absolutely LOVE the deep green color!
If you want a comfortable couch for under a million dollars - this is your betHayleyWe fall asleep on it, we read on it, our dog digs in it. The fabric (hillared beige) does hold up but needs some de pilling. Would reccomend it to family/friends!
Great couchBrigitte13 years later we still have this couch. It survived 4 moves and we’re actually impressed about the seats which hardly start to show signs of where we always sit. The only thing we changed once is the covers and only because we moved into a house with carpet that had the same color as the couch 😬!
Honest reviewTajI'm a skeptic who usually thinks most good reviews are fake and most bad reviews are overblown. So I wanted to give a honest review -- I got my tallmyra dark green kivik last week, and I love it. I'm obsessed with the color, which is the main reason I got it. The fabric is like corduroy without the ribbing. It's on the firmer side, but after two days, the seats are already softer. It was a bit tough fitting the back pillows into their covers, but I got there. I would definitely recommend.
Fantastic sofa!JanessaExactly what I wanted! And unlike what others have said, it is very soft and very comfortable. I fell asleep on it immediately and so did my cats. I didn't find it too hard at all, besides you do have to let it break-in a little before you can determine how comfortable it will be. It fits in my apartment perfectly. I use the Chaise end almost always, so that will probably get more wear than anything else. I LOVE MY KIVIK!!
Needs a bit of TLCBeateGot the loveseat w/ chaise and have to admit, it takes getting used to after all the bulky furniture in other stores. It does however give you just as much seating without making a room look crowded especially if you don’t have large rooms. Itvwas easily set up and putting covers on the cushions is easy. I’m happy with the kivik but have two suggestions for IKEA. The back cushion on the chaise is way too soft compared to the others. Also, it would be nice if you could buy replacement cushions or armrests separately. I’d like to have a chaise with an armrest . No options there IKEA?
Quality has gone downhill SpencerThis was our favorite couch when we bought it 5 years ago. Just recently purchased another one (sold the old one during a move) and the quality has gone way downhill. It feels cheap, uncomfortable, and sounds like it’s going to break in half when anyone sits on it. Really disappointing quality for the money. It’s a shame because we had recommended this couch to so many people based on the previous, higher quality.
Mixed 3.5TonyOriginally purchased the KIVIK around 7/8 years ago for eight and change. The idea of removable covers was part of the appeal. Looking back it didn't make a difference. Prone to shrinking and dye fading even on cold washes or soaks.
The fit of covers vs cushion was noticeable when we first assembled it. Comfort on sofa and chaise decreased within 1-2 years (mild complaints about back cushions). After 3-4 minor our discomfort level increased (cushions/lack of firmness overall). After 5+ its simply uncomfortable in the same ways that a dorm sofa bed would feel.
For the 'then' price, design and modular potential it was a worthwhile purchase. Today, I would look at the other reviews based on current price points.

So comfortable! JenniferThe couch was a little rough to put together but I got it eventually. It is by far the most comfortable couch I’ve ever sat on. I always take my naps on it and it’s large enough for the whole family to lounge on. Fabric is perfect for clean up if it’s just pet hair. I have a chomchom roller and it gets it up with no issue. I was on the fence with the purchase but I have no regrets. I’d 100% buy it again, but it comes with a 10th ear warranty so I probably won’t even have to. No creaking or sinking.
A note, it’s slightly on the firm side, so you don’t sink into it as much as other couches. Perfect amount of support for my husband and I who both have bad backs.

Not worth itYveThere were nice reviews on this sofa, one stood out and now I have to agree w the one review.
I needed a sofa that I could switch out the covers (dog mom) and settled on the kivik. Be aware that the seams on the cushion covers do not align w cushions, the seams on the covers are smaller in width than actual cushions. Some furniture pieces do not align perfectly either. There is a piece of wood jutting out where the chaise and sofa meet. Am I disappointed? Very much so. I want to return it, but don't know if it's worth the hassle of taking it apart and renting a van and lugging everything to the store.

Yes, it's very firm, but my husband and I think it's very comfortable. He's 5'10 and I'm 5'1. We watch a lot of TV on it.
Assembly took about 4 hours and was annoying. I wish I'd paid someone else to assemble it.
The fabric I got was Tallmyra white/black. I looked at all the fabric options in the store, and I thought this was the softest one. Highly recommend. This couch is much more attractive than I expected.
I have two cats and a toddler, and the Kivik offers so much peace of mind. My cats have already started scratching the fabric, and it's not really visible. I like knowing that any damage to the sofa cover can be fixed with a replacement, instead of having to toss this one in the landfill and get a new couch. For the price, it's a solid couch.

I purchased this recently, and sure, the shipping process was pretty straightforward and the assembly instructions were clear, but man, this couch is real bad. As we were assembling it knew I was building something I was going to hate. The covers themselves are extremely scratchy. The cushion covers don't align with the cushions and make the couch look boxy, uneven, and cheap. You can feel the springs on the chaise. It was so bad I was chatting with customer service same day to get a refund started. Save yourselves and don't get it! Ikea I hope you fix this!!
Very pleasedLisaThis is our 2nd KIVIK sofa. The one in our family room is about 6 yrs old. We loved it so much we got another for the living room. It is easy to assemble, solid construction and very comfortable!
instant regret (returned the next day)SharanI bought this sofa without seeing it because a friend has had it for a few years. Looks like I faced the same issue as others - something in the manufacturing process for this sofa has changed because it was so ugly and poorly made. It came in 8 separate boxes, took 4 hours to put together, and when it was all done, the cover seams didn't line up with the edges of the cushions and the cushions themselves were misshapen. I called Ikea the next day to schedule a return pickup. The sofa itself was pretty comfortable (I prefer a firmer sofa), but it was atrocious to look at. Would not recommend, because even if you return it, there are hours of your life you will never get back.
Extremely UncomfortableJessicaI took two hours to put this together to have immediate buyers remorse. The couch cushions are hard as a rock and the cover material is super scratchy. I purchased this based off of past reviews for the older Kivik, and I should have paid attention to the newer ones which seem to have similar bad reviews.
Unfortunately, I had to take it apart and pay $69 to return it.
