skimping on materialJessicabought the Tresund light beige to replace the Gunnared blue that's been on our sofa for years and was disappointed to learn (once we got home) that it's not the Tresund fabric all the way around on the seats the way my old cover was. So minus a star for skimping on materials- that's a bummer, but I guess not a deal breaker. Feel like that should be highlighted a bit more in the description. This color seems like a true beige. Just needed to lighten things up a bit. Hoping it holds up like my other one did, but I'm a bit dubious with this new thinner backing that's on the seat cushion.
Great colorNataliaIt fit great and really like the new color.
horrible experience with kivik and ikeaElizabethcouch arrived with both missing and damaged pieces and ikea will not resolve the issue. horrible experience, terrible service, do not buy.
Gunnared Beige is GREY not BEIGE. CaitlinWe’ve had a kivik couch for the last few years and i wanted to change the color so I ordered the gunnared beige. I thought it would be beige and looks beige online so I ordered it. The color is definitely more of a light grey. Just be aware of this. If we didn’t live hours away from an IKEA, i would return it in person so I could look at the others but for the price point, I will keep them.
If you've had your Kivik awhile, read this first CaseyThese came up in Ikea search as slipcovers. Listed as covers. I bought my Kivik summer 2015, needed update. Firstly, these are NOT slipcovers (meaning they fit over existing cushions), they're replacement covers. My 2015 sofa has wooden boards glued to the stuffing in the sofa's back cushions. We had to wrestle the board away from the filling to get the old covers off, then cram the board in the back after. The arm rests and sofa base covera have handy fuzzy side of Velcro, however, my 2015 has no corresponding Velcro on it. The original leather is stapled on. We had to staple over the preexisting leather. Pain in the whatsit, but we finally got it on and are happy enough. Prior to ordering, I didn't see anything indicating the frustration level would depend on age of original sofa.
Great replacement.GlenMy Kivik sofa and ottoman cover were getting a little well worn, but the sofa itself is in good shape. I had washed the covers once. They were really tough to get back on. I figured I try a new set with a different material and color and see how it goes. It was worth it. I like the new blue that replaced the gray and it’s not as tight as the original. So it’s shows some wrinkles in every day use where the other set did not. But I still like the new set much better. I did have to take the sofa apart to tuck everything in right. I took both ends off. It really wasn’t that hard to do. It went back together easily. All in all I’m happy I made the change.
Fit fine on a 2011 Kivik sofaJustineThis was my second replacement cover for a Kivik 3-seater that I bought in 2011. I was worried after reading other, more recent reviews that the cover wouldn't fit, but it went on just like the others no problem! The fabric and style has changed in a few ways. Gunnard blue no longer has the dark grey woven into it, it's got more white instead. The fabric is a little thinner than the original cover and the one I got around 2018. Still looks good with a tweedy texture, but a little unexpected. The seat covers are no longer flippable, so they may not last as long. Overall, relieved that it fit and I can keep this sofa going for another 6-10 years!
Looks great! Durable too!JoanneThis cover is a versatile color. The material is comfortable, not scratchy or stiff. My dog likes to “dig” on the couch, and it has withstood his nails. I recommend this product.
Terrible quality SaraThe fabric is terrible. The seats and armrests are pilling and coming apart after less than a year. The bottom of the seat covers are made with a thin material that doesn’t allow you to flip the cushions. The old covers were a much better quality.
Washed it once and the color has stained all overAdrianaI love this sofa. It's super comfortable and nice looking. But, I washed the cover once and the color stained all over. The cover was supposed to be grey /white/black and it now has a big blue stain on the side. This is wrong and shouldn't happen. Its supposed to be washable. And I followed the was instructions as indicated by Ikea. Not very happy about this.
Horrible. Don't waste your time. MaricoBought the covers a year ago, the pilling within the first couple months were bad and now it’s even worse. No amount of pill shaving can remove this either. Honestly a huge disappointment since the old Kivik covers were way better quality. Honestly done with IKEA sofas. Garbage.
Not Great For Pet HairJenniferI'm so disappointed with the fabric change because (despite vaccuuming, lint rolling, and buying special brushes for pet hair removal) pet hair is near impossible to remove from the fabric. Please bring back the old fabric!
Scratchy and Uncomfortable KellyI wanted to like the new tresund anthracite cover we put on our Kivik sofa, but the fabric isn't comfortable at all. It is very rough and scratchy and abrasive to the skin. Now I will have to buy a third cover with a softer fabric if it still exists. It looks like IKEA is making their sofa covers with less quality materials than they used to. We loved our first sofa cover for the Kivik and it lasted for 6 years before we changed it.
Looks good but feels different CaseyI bought the Tibbleby beige/gray cover to replace the Tallmyra white/black that came with the KIVIK couch I purchased in 2020 and the fabric is lighter and feels less sturdy. It was harder to get installed. There were many threads sticking out of the seam I needed to trim.
I got this because after 4.5 years my previous cover was ripping at the seams so I’m hopeful it lasts.
Why do you change it?CarlaWhy do change the covers fabric? I saw the new fabric at the store and it doesn't look pet friendly. The one I have is very sturdy, now I cannot change it. The reviews are not good, everybody is complaining about the same thing.
Measure first for sofa or loveseat size coverAprilI ordered the cover for my old kivik sofa and chase lounges on each end. When I tried to put on the sofa part it didn’t fit it was too small. But what I didn’t realize was I bought the loveseat size cover not the sofa cover. So make sure you measure so you know if you have the sofa or loveseat. It had been so long since I bought it I just assumed I had the loveseat for the middle section of the sectional but I guess I bought the sofa size so I will just return it.
New look to my furniture, it is as good as new.JuanImpressive the change it gave to my furniture and my home.
Gorgeous Fabric!!SusanThis cover is absolutely beautiful! It was exactly what I was looking for and gave my Kivik sofa new life!
Avoid if you have an old kivikAnonymous reviewerDisappointing experience. If the size of the Kivik sofa has changed, it should be clearly stated or the product rebranded to avoid confusion. The quality has noticeably declined, and the prices are no longer as affordable as they once were. I expected better from Ikea. I’d recommend thinking twice before purchasing from them again. Terrible!
Nice cover that fits fineJimi don't write reviews, but i don't usually purchase anything without exhausting myself reading the reviews first. i was so disappointed to read the reviews that the couch cover wouldn't fit. but i really needed a replacement as the dark gray one was so faded. so i reluctantly and disappointedly ordered the replacement. but i vowed that i would check all the covers next to the couch before i took it apart. and they all looked right. so i removed the covers and installed the new ones. it seems to fit perfectly. i don't know when i bought the couch, but i am thinking it could have been 6 years ago. i wonder since Ikea sells the long couch and the shorter i call the love seat, is where people are thinking it doesn't fit. but for me, it fits great and looks good. maybe Ikea should list what size couch the cover is for in case they sell them for the shorter one as well? so, enjoy your new looking couch. i wish they offered the replacement leather cover.
