Awesome storage unitKarenPurchased this unit to put in a closet, later moved and use it in a new closet: art supplies, greeting and seasonal cards, sewing supplies. I use a couple dividers in some box spaces which narrow the space just slightly but double the shelves; the pull-out containers are very useful. the doors are too hard to install and not worth it in my opinion. One of the best purchases for storage I ever made.5

The quality really went downAllaI got the Kallax and the inserts with doors, while screwing the insert into the side of the Kallax the screw was not tightening just spinning and spinning. I thought maybe I stripped the hole, so took some toothpicks to fill it back up with wood glue and the toothpicks were just freely moving inside the wall, like the sides of the whole shelf are completely hollow in places! This is an insanely bad design flaw for something that has optional inserts that need to be screwed into the sides!2

Not as Good as it Once WasMelissaI have 14 Kallax systems purchased over the last 4 years. I love them. They’re the perfect dish storage. I I were reviewing only the first 10 I bought I would have given it 5 stars. The 4 I’ve purchased recently within the last year are not the same quality. They’re not as substantial. They are flimsier and just don’t seem as strong. I have a very close eye on these to watch for any sagging.4

I love them as there are a lot of parts to choose from, and diy options.
The I wish ikea can make a better board, don’t mind with a higher price for this kallax shelf design.

Flimsy MaterialsZacharyThe wooden pegs included in the box are so cheap and frail. 5 of them broke while putting the shelves together. They're now stuck there and now some of the shelves can't bear as much weight. Either include stronger materials or use something else entirely in place of these wooden pegs.
In addition to this, label the wooden panels (to panel, side panel, etc.) and use words in the instructions instead of just pictures.2
