Very disappointedJenniferThis is the worst piece I've purchased from IKEA. While I was putting it together, a few of the dowels broke, which caused damage to other parts. I schlepped back to the store for replacement parts, but still had a heck of a time. Broken dowel pieces wouldn't come out. I couldn't get the fourth side to screw on. I ended up returning it.
I should get an award for putting this togetherJesseMy first thoughts were oh. This won’t be bad at all! It’ll take about an hour to put two 9 cube cubbies together. I was so, so, SO wrong. This took about 4 hours. Either the holes for the dowels weren’t deep enough or the dowels were too long for the parts that connect into the thicker boards. I could not get it flush for the life of me. I ended up breaking like 4 dowels, then had to redrill holes where the dowels snapped in half, then had to trim most of the dowels to get it to fit. I was literally in tears by the time I finished putting this together. If I didn’t live 1.5 hours away this would have DEFINITELY been returned.

Kallax are my go-to systems for book/office storageMarsieThe Kallax shelving systems are sturdy and great for loading up with books and literature, especially larger size textbooks and magazines. My husband and I have moved are existing Kallax systems across the country (US) and they have held up well. We brought the 3x3 when we needed more storage. I do like pairing the Kallax shelves with bins and other accessories, like the Kallax drawers and doors, to help with visual clutter (especially for craft supplies).

Love theseKerriThere are a lot of places that make these, BUT these are large enough to hold LPs. They are easy to build, slide on carpet pretty well. A little expensive, but the best thing out there.
Piece of garbageAnonymous reviewerThe dowels were thin and weak -instruction says to hammer them...guess what, they break easily, and the company couldn't be bothered to provide a couple of extras - it's tiny wooden dowels that cost virtually nothing but considerable TIME for customer if they break! The worse part was that these dowels were too long!! They left 1/8" gaps everywhere...banging the panels together just dented them! I had to dismantle then shorten ALL the dowels by 1/4"! Like others reviewers, dowels broke in hole - had to drill them out! At the end of ordeal, the whole shelf was found to be easily swayed - piece of junk!

The worst piece of IKEA furniture I've ever assembled VictoriaThis was the last shelving unit of four I bought, including others from the kallax range and it was an absolute nightmare to get together, unlike the others. It was so hard to get the pegs and screws into the holes, it was slightly wonky. I'm just glad this one was for the basement and nobody will see how it looks. So frustrating and effortful. Maybe I just got a bad one but I'd definitely go for one of the others in future.

The height is tall enough but not too tall. It allows me to use the top as a workspace. They were easy enough to assemble, with no issues. Amazing value for the price, attractive, and easy to clean.
