A very nice shelf unitArtThe Kallax 4x2 is a very nice shelf unit. It was easy to assemble. One thing that might improve this shelf unit is better connection between the sides, top and bottom. Maybe overlaps joints would improve the strength as well as limit the side to side movement. it needs a little bit more rigidity. Also, it would be nice if there were already holes to accept the wheels or if the base was slightly thicker to accept 3rd party casters that use ¾ inch wood screws. Would also love to see this shelf in more vibrant colors like navy, blue, green, yellow, etc.4

Owned for 13 years and 2 moves.AdamI don't think they are poor quality at all if they are the same as they were 13 years ago. They aren't crazy heavy so it made moving 2x super easy. I think you can hold like 50lbs per square or something like that? I have all my household power tools, bits, hammers, screwdrivers and nails in 1 box that's made to fit in 1 of the squares. I put the heaviest things at the bottom. The only thing wrong with them is the scratches from sliding them around, but you can find a color to pain match and touch it up easily. Easy to clean with everyday cleaning products. I put these led lights in the top of empty squares with some gorilla tape and it gives it a cool fish tank vibe.5

Easy assembly but poor quality AlisaThis was extremely easy to put together. With that being said, the quality is very poor for IKEA. I have purchased several pieces of furniture from IKEA that have all been very heavy and durable and these are EXTREMELY light and the color is worn off in multiple spots of it. I’m not near an IKEA store and had this item delivered so I can’t just pack it up and return it or I probably would. Pretty disappointed in this one. 2

Worst Ikea Product I Have Ever PurchasedMaxwellUnbelievably terrible quality. Panels are as light and flimsy as styrofoam. All connections are ill-fitting wooden dowels that crumble with any force at all. On top of that, you have to drill FOUR of your own holes just to attach the desk. I would buy literally ANY desk/shelf combination over this one. Don't make the same mistake I did! I can't believe how cheap and lazy Ikea has gotten.1
