There has to be a better wayKristenIf you want to spend hours being frustrated then by all means, by these little monsters and have fun trying to figure out how to assemble them and getting them to stay on the Kallax cube. It’s a full exercise in futility. The instructions may as well not be included, they’re so bad. The screws don’t match up. The backer board moves around and unless you have your Kallax cube against a solid wall, you have to contend with the insert banging around inside the cube while you’re trying to get the door on the front. Oh and then you get to try to remove the residue from the glass, while praying you didn’t breathe too hard and knock the door off the hinge. In other words: don’t bother with these. I am convinced a bitter engineer who was just let go must have come up with the design.

Great insert! TheodoreGreat insert to use a Kallax as a display case. Great at keeping the dust to a minimum. I been looking forward to this insert since I saw the UK Ikea carrying them.
Terrible hinges!JamesPut the inserts together and installed the hinges on the glass door. Cheap plastic inserts and screws that are too small and won't hold. All four hinges (two doors) won't hold no matter what I do. The screw won't hold the two plastic parts that sandwich the glass together. Junk design/parts. I'll have to go to the hardware store to figure out a better solution.
Nice High-Visibility Showcase Kallax Shelf AccessoryAnthonyThis is nice looking accessory for Kallax that can show-off up to two things (like a die-cast model car for me) in a glass shelf. While assembly wasn't the quickest, it was still straightforward like other Kallax shelf accessories with the door alignment being the most tedious. Regardless, if you want a high-quality glass box alternative, with minimal gaps preventing dust ingress, this one's for you.

The biggest con that cost this insert 3 stars is that the hinges on the glass doors are plastic on plastic with two minuscule sheet metal screws to connect the two plastic pieces. Either I got 8 units that didn’t pass quality assurance, or the design is honestly awful. It’s impossible to get the hinges tight, and when they are tight, it will strip the plastic. The threshold for failure is razor thin.
When installing my FIRST door, the top hinge popped out and the door almost fell. I had to use construction grade adhesive to connect the hinges. Hopefully it holds long term!
And really Ikea? The thread on those sheet metal screws are far to small to sufficiently grip and join two plastic pieces. Metal screws in plastic, as a whole, is shamefully cheap.
Options neededII love the ease of customizing KALLAX. I wish the glass shelves came with other background colors. I have a brown/black unit. White doesn't work with it.

Material
What is glass?
Glass is mainly made of sand, soda, and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
