Color is completely different than website VictoriaI love the ease of adding these doors on my current Kallax unit. However, the color is much darker than my Kallax unit and the website photos. The numbers all match up so I guess at some point the color changed but the website is not updated?Since I don't drive I cannot go do a color comparison. I took photos for customer service but the number on the box matches so I'm told this white oak is the white oak I received. Even tho the photo clearly shows the difference. Debating on return.
These doors are crapDanielThe hardware with these doors are crap!! The bolt to center the door strips easily!!! Do better IKEA!!!!
Ruin Your Kallax LisaInserts are cheap and the hinges are a nightmare to tighten to functionality. The screws are no help and not what’s needed length wise. My door keeps falling off - not safe, not good, not happy! Once you drill there’s no going back and you’ve ruined the look of your Kallax! Also, the insert takes up too much space so trying to get a cube back in is impossible unless you totally remove the door! Waste of my time and money! Don’t recommend!
Useful addition to the Kallax shelvesMaureenThese doors fit in perfectly, blend with the color (light oak) and effectively hide the clutter behind them. Looks sharp!
Poor door designLindsayThese Kallax doors are so difficult to accurately line up so the hinges allow the door to easily open and close. We worked several hours to get 3 out of 4 doors to work and ended up just not using the door for the 4th door.
Bad HingesJeremyThis fit and looks fine, but it was nearly impossible to adjust the hinges - the adjustment screw did not turn with any screwdriver: I had to use a set of pliers to turn it, which took about 10 minutes for each hinge.
Don’t fit and look terrible EzrieI bought these thinking it would be a great way to hide things away. It’s not the doors are to small and they don’t look right. The screws are to short and won’t stay in. Keep your money and find an alternative
Door insertAnnaWe love these because you can have a door and hide anything inside the bookcase now.
Cannot Adjust Door DebraInstructions do not work to adjust the door. It hangs with right side down and left side up and the whole door needs to move to the right. I've been trying to adjust it for hours following the included instructions. I even watched some youtube videos about how to adjust IKEA cabinet doors. Totally dreading installing the second one I ordered. This could have been made so much easier. I have experience putting together lots of complicated furniture. I will not buy these again.
The Kallax doorJuliaI like the Kallax insert with door, but would go another direction in the future. They’re a perfect look great, but don’t work as well for me as some other accessories.
corners were damagedDavidunfortunately, at the Jacksonville store, there was hidden damage to the corners of not just one of these but two. The corners are hidden under the packaging..
Piece of crap screws not long enough! CaroleSure you can put it in and a child can pop it out in seconds like what happened to me. So glad I was too tired to install the other 3. All he did was open it a few times and of course one tug and out of the unit the liner came. And 5 star reviews are for adults who use these these things are not for kids.
Junk. Also does not fit vinyl records!ColtonThis was a waste of time and money. The Kallax itself is not sturdy enough for the screws to stay in. They just rip right out of the main unit. Also, be aware, you cannot fit vinyl records in the kallax anymore with the doors on. You technically can, but the hinges get in the way.
Great concept but not easy to implementKatherineI was able to get this door into the KALLAX shelving that I own. I was trying to get something that had more organization but decided to try the door to see how it looked. It was a lot of work and I needed a drill and drill bits to get this in. The door is still not aligned correctly but it only bugs me when I am looking at it. Otherwise, it looks great once installed and I don’t have to look at everything behind the door.
Hide and seek lol SabineThis is perfect to keep things out of site. So easy to put together.
AMAZING!Kai UweThese doors look so great on our kallax. It was so great to be able to customize them. We had no trouble installing them (we bought 4 and also purchased 2 sets of the drawers - also amazing!)
Cheaply Made. Complete HeadacheMattThe Kallax units, as a whole, are great. These door inserts are unbelievably awful. They are cheaply made, and such a huge headache to install. Literally no door has installed the same way twice. Each with their own issues.
If the tiny screws, they give you, strip the hole that you're trying to make in the unit, you're done for. The piece will never fit securely again. Turns out, it's extremely easy to do this, also, as I used the same very careful pressure as I did on other doors, and it still was ruined. I recommend avoiding these inserts. They are not what I thought they'd be, at all.
Perfect fitGregoryPerfect fit, easy to assemble and adjust
Good value for the moneyRolandThis minimalistic insert for Kallax converts one shelf section into a box with a door and a rear wall. It is cheap, but it looks good and does the job. The hinges can be adjusted to achieve straight and symmetric gaps around the door. The glossy finish is nice, but be aware of the fact that the Kallax pieces are generally a little more off-white (not snow white) than some other Ikea products. I have also noticed that some of the doors and drawers look a little more gray and others look a little more beige. The rear wall is white on both sides, but doesn't look as good from the outside as the door in the front, so I would avoid using this insert for shelves in the middle of a room.
A lot harder than it needed to beJulieThis kit is less than ideal. It would not bend color side in, forcing it would have ripped the paper “hinges”. The fit is too tight to go over the brackets in the back of the shelving unit, that took far longer to solve than it needed to. The door takes a fair amount of fiddling to get lined up, but that’s usual with cabinet hinges and expected. The folding insert body is flimsy and weird, the way the one side collapses on itself is annoying. I got it to “good enough”, I will choose a slide in cube next time.

Material
What is fibreboard?
Fiberboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fiberboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are. This determines if we will use them for bed frames, sofa frames, kitchen fronts, wardrobe doors, or something completely different.
