Cat approvedNicoleWhether or not my cat used this, I decided to buy it because it’s very cute and adds a little something to the simple design of kallax and the other inserts I’ve purchased. But, my cat does actually use it along with the ikea pillow insert. He seems to enjoy it; I find him in there a couple times a week and he always looks so cozy curled up on the pillow! Very glad I bought it!

Cute but my cats don't use it as much as meAnqiIt's pretty sturdy and I use it as a stool sometimes, but my cats don't like going inside it, maybe it was a little too small for them. It was a little expensive for the price so I probably wouldn't buy another one.

High Expectations FernandoI loved it from the moment I saw it online. I ran to IKEA the next day to buy it. I put it together as soon as I got home and added to my KALLAX unit.
Before I share my experience I want to give my opinion. I think it's a great idea, it looks great as one of the niches. But...
Since my KALLAX sits on the base legs, it makes the cat house entrance just high enough to be too uncomfortable for both my lazy apartment cats. They've been inside only a couple of times, but I noticed that entering is the issue, because the hole is almost too small. So the combination of having to go through a tight hole and the need for a small jump at the same time, makes it a unappealing for them. I wish the hole was bigger, even if it meant being round instead of cat shaped.
Maybe if I put it on the floor they would enjoy it more.

Cat box LinzyI bought this for our cat Milo I love the aesthetic event. He doesn’t really go in it too much but I do love it. It’s a nice box easy to build. I will be keeping it for as long as it’s standing.

My cat knows it’s his, But it’s a struggle for him to go in because it’s on the smaller side. IKEA needs to make the shape larger for all cats to go inside. And also have a pillow or blanket. So cute, easy assembly, but one concern.KathrynBought two so far, but one concern. If a sizable cat enters and there is no back to shelves, it can move backwards and cause the cat to be wary of entering again. With two next to each other, can one of your clever connectors be put through the upper part of the houses and the divider between them to secure them? Or a bracket that wouldn't stand out on the back? Love using this instead of another cat tree that will eventually wobble and break. Perfect size for two cats to sit and look out the window. And much better price.
Kind of a pain to put togetherAlyssaI've been waiting for this to be back in stock to replace the other style fabric cat house I used to have in my Kallax shelving unit that my cat has always loved. I like this one better b/c it's easier to clean and keep clean from pet hair. That said, wow I was surprised by what a pain an item this simple is to put together! You need both a Phillips head and flat screwdriver (I did not have a flat head on hand so this sat for a bit until I got one). One other gripe is that the cutout entry is a bit small and likely won't work for larger sized cats. I wish they made these with a larger, regular circle cutout entry, but other than that it's pretty amazing and a step up from the fabric style.

Cute and sturdyRachelI bought a whole series of the KALLAX products (the kallax 'insert with 2 drawers', the kallax 'shelving unit', and this kallax 'cat box') for my room. FIY, DON'T BUY the kallax 'insert with 2 drawers' because the quality is A LOT worse than this cat box; the kallax 'shelving unit' is much sturdier but pretty difficult to install because some small pieces don't fit the main board. So in conclusion this cat box is the only kallax item I bought this time that works well + is sturdy + easy to install.
