Bulbs are nice, remotes not so much KyleThe bulb paired perfectly with apple home and are running nicely. The remotes just refuse to work after 5 minutes. Updating their firmware is nearly impossible. 3
Excellent ValueHollyBought two of these a few months ago and have been very pleased. Put one in each of my kids’ rooms. We’ve had no usage issues. Double click either button to move forward/backward through colors, or a single click is on/off. The choice of whites and colors along with a remote make this an excellent value. If you want a simple “smart” option that offers some variety with easy set up and no required phone usage, this should suit you well. 5
Great piceAnthonyLove this bulb. New remote is great5
Nice product, modern matterGuilhermeUsing matter protocol compatible with most modern home automation systems5
Works well on Existing Thread NetworkTheodoreSmart home control: I assumed Thread/Matter would be easy as it was a new standard created by industry leaders. Thread/Matter is heavily dependent on IPV6, which unfortunately many routers implement as an afterthought. Matter 1.4 helps with this, though I got it working before this through router tweaks. I had no issues adding these devices to the stable thread network and using them with Home Assistant. Things to keep in mind:
- Less is more for border routers. One border router can evade many IPV6 config issues.
- Occasionally my family turns off the power and the bulb sometimes doesn't reconnect.. I'm sure matter 1.4 updates will resolve this, as it did with other brands.
- It was disappointing to learn the binding is not matter binding. But Matter doesn't have a Zigbee Touchlink equivalent, and hubless connection is a major demographic.
- The button controller is very energy efficient on my thread network, though It can take a second when coming out of sleep.
- Reasonable price.4
No color changeElizabethMy bulb only turns on and off with the remote, no color change, no dimming, and I’m using it on an IKEA lamp!1
Will only turn on and off. No color changeMichelleI used a non IKEA lamp and can only get it to turn on and off. No color change.1
So close to 5 stars but color issues hold it backShemI have thankfully had an excellent Matter-over-Thread experience using a Sonoff dongle and Home Assistant as my matter controller of choice. These bulbs are no exception - paired quickly, responds reliably and consistently. If they were just white spectrum bulbs, they probably would've gotten a 5-star. I don't even use the color function that much, but to rate honestly there is some sort of either on-device firmware issue or an LED issue where if you select a red color that isn't pure red, any brightness between 40% and 99% suddenly switch the bulb to green for some reason. Some weird color mapping going on, and others online have also observed this behavior. Will happily re-rate if IKEA pushes an update!3
Easy setup MAJOR bugsMichelleTo be honest I don’t recommend the kit, I use my phone fro everything. There are 9 colors that illuminate green, even after the firmware and app update.3
Worked perfect for me right out of the boxStevenAdded to Apple Home immediately, downloaded firmware update, works perfectly without any issues.5
Good valueRobertIt’s Knight said it’s option. Has come up to add white bulbs to my Apple system. The cost of these bulbs is much less than what I previously bought from Philips Hue.5
It does work well.Jae-WonIt seems Ikea is replacing the older line up, Tradfri, with this one, and alot of reviews complain how this doesn't work well. Well, mine does work, and I like how it is cheaper and has better build quality to it. The only concern I have is that considering how Tradfri burbs only last a year or so, this could have less durability with its cheaper price tag.5
The control broke in a week EmilyThe light is good but the control broke in literally a week1
Nice, but one gotcha.SeanLED bulb and the button itself were fine. Everything connected to Apple HomeKit well, integrations and switch options were nice. However, a problem after I attached the button to a wall. I had to move the button over a bit from its original position due to some additional clearance issues. When I tried pulling the metal base plate that the button magnetically attaches to off the wall, the paint and top layers of the drywall came off with the adhesive dots on the back. Two sizable divots were left on the wall that will have to be filled in and repainted!4
Great without AppHollyI am so glad I decided to give this a try! It works great using just the remote. Larger button is “on”, double click to run through color choices. Smaller button is “off”. Remote is also magnetic or has sticky tabs. Uses two AAA batteries. Got this to pair with the Barlast floor lamp for a very reasonably priced light for my kids’ rooms. Now they each have a customizable lamp for reading, work, fun, whatever. 5
