The on floor example is not what I brought home, sadlyCorrieI purchased and assembled a large ivar shelving system with two drawers. I’ve only put one for together, but no matter what I do with the screws to attach the rolling rails they (the screws) stick out too far and create a very rickety non smoothly opening drawer, I have to pull very hard to open the drawe. I don’t live anywhere near an IKEA and took a full day off to go pick this up. I was hoping I could return it through the mail using the same policy that someone who purchased it online might be able to use however customer service said I could either send it through UPS ($$)or drive it there. This is not economical return solution to a product that is not well-made. I am hesitant to even open the second drawer. I specifically went to the IKEA store to test out the drawer to make sure it worked well, the ikea showroom drawers worked perfectly, which is why I purchased them. Disappointed in this return policy.1
Drawers don’t align as well if put directly on top/under each otherJoannInstalled two of these drawers in the 11 3/4” deep Ivar (one sitting on top of the other) and they unfortunately don’t align as well... although the metal pegs are correctly aligned on the Ivar system the top drawer sinks a little on the bottom drawer, making it interfere with pulling out the bottom drawer. The bottom drawer also catches slightly on the railing as we pull it out. We did not install the last four screws for the side rail pieces that go on the metal pegs of the system because of concerns with it cracking the wood (it slightly cracked as we drilled a couple of them in). We also cannot securely lock the shelf directly on top of the top drawer because it interferes with it.2
These drawers are awfulYiqingOh IVAR, how I used to love you. The problem with these drawers is that their usability depends on IKEA's quality control for the side units, which is horrendous. You can easily end up with side rails that are extremely warped, especially now that they're boxed and you can't inspect them. In my shelf unit, the sides are splayed so far apart that the mechanism won't sit in the sides of the drawers. Every time I open a drawer, it essentially falls out and needs to be re-seated. They cannot hold any amount of weight without falling out. Worse than useless.2
A great addition to the Ivar lineMaryI love these. I bought several to customize a wall unit for my dining area. Simple and clever design makes it easy to add. Highly recommend.5
Doesn't Fit IVAR SystemAnonymous reviewerI've returned & repurchased the IVAR side units several times now and the side pieces of these drawers which hold the sliders are too wide to assemble the way the instructions show. (Or, the Ivar side units are now being made a little smaller). I've been watching IVAR quality go down consistently the past several years but this is absurd. Yes, IKEA, I know I ran return them but I've spent a huge amount of time assembling 9 drawers and running back and forth to your store (after paying a large delivery fee in the first place), so I'd like it to work. Going to have to cut them, I guess. And yes the drawer bottom should be stronger, and it's nuts that the drawer sides are so short, so the drawers hardly hold anything. But the situation I'm in, I don't have a better option.1
QuestionJoeyWill these drawers mount inside the IVAR cabinets? I love the IVAR cabinet. Its versatile & adaptable. Thank you5
Great!YvetteEasy to put together and very large. I love them.5
One is goodTaraI got my drawer set up and it works fine, but I would be nervous to put two drawers on top of each other bc I don't know if they were line up and that would drive me crazy. I'm glad one other review mentioned this. I went with one drawer for my set up and its good. Note: building the IVAR system was the hardest build I've done from Ikea. I think its bc they use pine and it can be warped. I had to jig saw a corner off a shelf to get it to fit. Try to get the straightest sides you can when picking out the supports.4
Classic Ivar with a twistStacieWe ended up assembling an IVAR unit to instal in my son's closet. We used the drawers in the bottom so he can access them. We hung a bar across the entire unit for clothes and included shelves at the top for odds and ends that would fit up and into that odd space at the top of closets.
I am really happy with how it turned out. The drawers are easy for a child to open. We ordered the a 11/12 inch drawers not the 22/24 inch ones. His closet was not deep enough. All and all for an entire closet unit we ordered 10 shelves, 6 drawers, 3 sides rungs, and 2 metal cross bar supports. All of them work perfectly.5
Great drawerBetsaidaEasy to assemble and custom wheee i want it5
Totally changed the vibe of my libraryJeffI love these drawers. They were easy to assemble, and once stained and sealed, match the rest of my ceiling to floor IVAR room. They just make the shelves look classier. They fit nicely, taking up the extra space I had in between each shelf. And they are a boon for storing loose stuff all around the room.5
Don't do it!Anonymous reviewerRead the assembly guide before buying this, you'll notice:
1. The drawer bottom is not wood, it's fiberboard.
2. The drawer back is attached with hammered in plastic "screws".
3. The mounting rails are secured to the Ivar side units literally only with two small wooden dowels.
These drawers can't support any kind of actual weight for long. There's no way they can stand up to 10+ years of regular use.
It's also basically impossible to line up the drawer fronts and level / plumb them. So if you have several drawers together, the fronts will be all askew.
Don't buy these! Find a way to use literally any other Ivar component instead.1
Not as sturdy as the rest of the Ivar line, just hangs there.DallasI feel like it going to break if I don't very gently close it everytime.2
