I was a little disappointedRebecaI was a little disappointed with the quality of one of the barstools. There was a deep scratch on one of the barstools but since no other stores in the area (Tampa, Miami) had these, I decided to keep it, fill and paint the damaged barstool 😕 (I still need 1 more barstool but to date, IKEA hasn't restocked its merchandise)4
Pretty and easy to assembleNicole M.It was easy for me to assemble, of course you need patience and follow the instructions well. They are perfect on my kitchen counter. They are tall and very pretty considering the price5

Fell apart within a month. Terrible quality.MARK W.After about 1 month, the backing "X" had all broken. Most of the back supports were loose, as the screws stripped from the cheap wood. The legs are all loose and some have split. Save yourself the money unless you want very expensive firewood1
ChairVICKII love all four of my chairs5
Great Counter Height ChairsSTEVENWork great for peninsula seating5
We love them!TONIEWe love them!5
Nicely Made ChairsNOTSETWe needed slightly lower than average bar height chairs. (Check the product info.) These were easy to construct and very sturdy. Excellent value! (My husband is a large 6.6” tall person. These chairs fit him well, yet also accommodate my 5.8” frame.)5
Very easy to assemble. LooksJoyceVery easy to assemble. Looks great. I am very pleased with this purchase5
Feels cheapJaneWe have two other barstools like this that we purchased years ago. They are both very sturdy and feel about twice as heavy as the new one. I'm not sure if you are using lighter wood or whatever, but I worry this one will not hold up like the others.3
Lower quality than original chairsKelsey S.We purchased an additional chair to add on to the three that we owned for more than 3 years. I immediately noticed when putting it together that the underside of the chair was unfinished unlike the rest of our older chairs. Within days, the side footrest broke, and then within days-weeks the panel on the backrest broke off. The other 3 older chairs are still perfect and going strong after 3 years. Very very disappointed that the quality has gone down on these!1
Changed backrest designMaLinda B.Love my bar stools. I had three but we recently move and had room for a fourth. We had the old ones for around 3 years and they have definitely changed their design since then. The back side the old stools are smooth and the new one is ridged. Slightly annoying but I guess only we will notice.4
Great look for the priceMatthewThe chairs look great at my kitchen island. Very nice quality for the price.5
Nice!SandyLove these chairs!5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is solid wood?

Solid wood is one of our favorite materials and is part of our Scandinavian heritage. It is also a timeless material with many uses. Regardless of the wood species, it is durable, beautiful, renewable and recyclable. We strive to use this raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste – and we also invest in facilities and logistics so that we can increase the use of recycled wood. This way, every tree is put to good use that little extra.

Function solution

Choose the right bar stool height

Choose the right height of your bar stool so that it is comfy to sit on, offers plenty of leg room and is proportionate with the rest of your space. Kitchen counters and counter-height tables typically range from 34-36" from the floor. To find the perfect stool for your counter, look for a seat height of 23-26". Tabletops or counters that measure between 39-42" from the floor, are typically classified as "bar height”, and require a seat height of 28-30".
