Horrible assembly MargieI'm about to drive this hunk of disappointment back to the store. I'm giving it one more chance tomorrow and by Friday it will be in my car. Instructions were useless. Making it take twice as long to put together. I'm so disappointed. I really wanted this to work.
Different size than previous modelJoeUnfortunately they’ve ruined what was otherwise a great product by making it smaller, the drawers are too small for a sheet of standard paper. Please bring back the old model!
Worst time I’ve ever purchased from IkeaDevriWhen we got the item out of the box, we could immediately tell there were dents in the flimsy metal. We tried to assemble anyway and wow, save your time. The drawer gears fall out during assembly, the products don’t fit together well, and every ounce of it can’t be breathed on without denting. For $70, you could get such a better product - likely already assembled.
Extremely hard to assemble!ChengyuI thought the assembly would be easy because it's small. But it's much more difficult than any other furnitures. I had trouble from step 1: the slide rails can not be fully secured and they kept falling apart in later steps. Every step is so hard to follow, you need to try so many times until you happen to find the right way to do it. No youtube video for this one, and the manual isn't helpful at all. If you really want to buy it, better to pay someone from taskrabbit to save your time.
FlimsyJulianaBought this a year or so ago; No more than normal use and it’s already falling apart. Whenever I try to move it over when I’m cleaning, the top piece of metal slips off and also the drawers fall off tracks easily. Disappointed cause the price tag implies quality, the performance does not.
Drawers Cannot Fit PaperAngieThe original Helmer could fit a standard sheet of paper. It’s drawer was 9 inches wide. I’m seeing from the measurements in this new version that the drawer is only 8 inches wide. This means the drawers cannot be used to store standard sheets of paper. Devastating.
For reference a standard sheet of paper is 8 1/2 x 11 inches.
Good product AmandaIt was quite easy to assemble, contrary to what many reviews say. You just need to pay attention to the details of each figure. However, the materials are indeed very fragile, and using a bit too much force (or even leaning on any of the parts) can easily dent the material.
Assembly Errors: Top CompartmentLeslieThe model I have was bent went purchased. It is impossible to correctly place the top of the dresser correct with the sides of the dresser. Two adults attempted separately, ran into the same issue each time. This isn’t worth the hours of repeated error to assemble. Videos online are also for older models which oversimplify the process.
Amazing ProductKathleenMy mother and I assembled this. At first it was easy, then we met the back panel. We were stumped but then a google search gave us the answer. Then after that it was light work.
Manufacturing defectsChrisDo not buy. Why are they still selling this?
The back of every drawer is bent 180 degrees in the wrong direction. Pieces are not able to be connected. Zero quality control!
As a diehard fan of ikea for 20 years this is disappointing.
If you really want to, bust out the pliers and bend over every tab on every drawer.
Does not work wellJessaleeThe drawers in this unit constantly get stuck, and block each other from opening. There are several drawers that are basically unusable because I can never get them open, and others are constantly getting stuck in different positions. Very frustrating, I will be replacing with a similar unit from a different company.
Easy InstallAnA lot smaller than I thought, was not too difficult to put together as most said. Instructions may not be clear with words but if you're good with your hands, you'll figure it out.

FlimsyEvaThis is very cute and I think will work okay for storing paper, but it is so flimsy. When picking it up, drawers fall out and the back even fell off once. I followed all instructions and tried to make it as sturdy as possible, but one tap can make it fall apart. Would recommend a different file cabinet.

Not Sure Why They Changed The Assembly ProcessBrianAs other reviews have said, this unit is difficult to assemble. I got the drawers together no problem and the rails were easy enough to figure out. But the top piece is an absolute nightmare. I’ve been at it for over a day and still don’t know what I’m doing wrong. The manual isn’t very helpful and when it’s in pieces the walls are flimsy so there isn’t a lot of time to take a look to try to figure out what’s wrong or what to do next before it falls apart. YouTube is no help because all the videos are the old version which looks so much easier to assemble. Considering returning this but not sure what I’d be able to replace it with.
so difficult to put togetherSusanI am trying to put this thing together and it is the most frustrating thing I have ever tried to assemble. The instructions are useless. There are no videos to be found to maybe get an idea of what I am doing wrong. Just a horrible experience.
Manufacturing issuesGwendolynThis piece has a lot of things working against it. For one, it's the newer version so nobody's YouTube videos are particularly helpful. The instructions are not really able to communicate some of the more complicated moves, so they don't inspire confidence. This is really a problem when pieces apparently aren't fitting together because of manufacturing issues. I feel like this was designed for tighter tolerances than the manufacture actually accomplished. I had to re-bend a specific tab on three of the five drawers. But it took me a long time to figure that out because the instructions weren't much support and I wasn't sure if I just wasn't doing it wrong.
AwfulDanicaTerrible and flimsy. I could not even get past step 3 of building this because the directions were awful, and the quality of materials was awful. it actually pissed me off
