Just OKSophiaVery different quality from previous years in a bad way. The finish was bumpy in sections of the exterior sides. The exteriors did not click evenly, so there are gaps. The drawers were a bigger mess. The screws were terribly hard to get in. Normally, I enjoy putting together the Ikea 'furniture,' but this experience was frustrating and taking me closer to not buying Ikea anymore.
The last few years, I feel like Ikea quality has gone down with price points going up.
Couldn't get top drawer in due to misalignment of holes on sidesLynnI returned it. They refunded me full price. I liked the concept but, they were out if I wanted to get one🙁
Great replacement for my plastic drawers.DonnaThis works great for my office and art supplies. It is pretty easy to put together. Once done works great. The drawers are easy to open and close and hold more than I thought per
drawer. It fits my needs exactly.
Not ususal Ikea QualityMichaelVery flimsy. Difficult to stay together
Helmer cabinetCynthiaBased on what I paid, it should have been sturdier and the wheels should roll better. Not pleased.
Not worth it very thin tin.PamI should have read it was not their wood. It is like a very thin tin file cabinet. Had I seen at store I would not have bought. I purchased online.
Good when it's good, but very delicate and flawed designDerekI got one of these for free off the street that I really liked, so I bought one to have another. When constructing it, I realized how lucky I was with the first one. The whole thing is very flimsy. A lot of it relies on just bending metal into place instead of using actual fasteners, which makes it feel like a house of cards ready to come apart at any moment. The worst part is the tracks for the drawers, which are meant to snap into place, but mine didn't snap very well, so they keep falling off. I had to superglue them into place, which is holding for now, but probably won't last that long. I like these drawers in theory, but I think they could've been designed much better and been made much more secure.
Helmer is lightweight but it worksJanI would rate this a 3-1/2 if I could. The good is it fits my need - sewing notions, 6 drawers perfect size for me. The bad - don't attempt to put this together without finding some YouTube videos. The directions are useless. The other bad is it's a bit flimsy. I wouldn't buy this if it wasn't on sale. So far after having suffered through putting it together correctly (I hope) I'm very happy with it.
Fantastic, had for 3 years now as bathroom storageDesireeOn here to order more when I saw all of the negative and frankly biased inaccurate reviews on assembly and strength. It was so easy to put together and super strong, I don’t want to be mean but if it is not sturdy or falling apart it is not product error but consumer error please find someone handy or a service if assembling things properly isn’t in your skill set. It’s not for everyone, plenty of roommates and friends have tagged me into help them over the years, not everyone is good with their hands or instructions and that’s ok. What’s not ok is writing reviews that are just rants, blaming products, driving prices up with unnecessary returns and taking reviews so much that reviews can’t even be used for an accurate search parameter. I hope this lets me post a photo of ours so people can see.
Great cabinet!RosalindI bought this to hold my craft patterns. It is awesome! I love it. For the customer who said there were no stops on the drawers, if they pull down the little tabs on both sides about 2/3 of the way down after inserting drawers they will stop when they reach that point. Also, re the side rails falling off. There's a notch that will snap them in tightly. Just cover with a cloth and hammer just a little. They will snap in quite tightly.
I'm planning on getting another one for my craft/crochet UFOs (unfinished objects). They will stay safe until I can get back to them. Great job, IKEA! It's all in the details. Thank you. Roz
Won't Stay Together—Avoid at All CostsSarahI am blown away at how horribly crafted this set of drawers is. I unfortunately purchased 3 of these to go under a desk and a craft table—money I'll never get back because I didn't return them immediately like I should have. The building mechanism of this is clicking together metal pieces. It falls apart if you bump it too hard (something I tend to do with my desk chair). The drawers never sat evenly for me. One of the drawer sliding mechanisms got dislodged and I have no way of getting it back together without taking the entire thing apart. My breaking point was just now, I tried to slide the drawers out from under my desk—because they have casters, you would think that should be doable—wrong. The entire back panel fell off. Once I'm done writing this review, I'm taking everything out and throwing this piece of junk away. Do not make the same mistake I did, avoid this at all costs. And definitely don't buy multiple... Ugh.
Flimsy but heavyMinseonAlmost cut my finger while assembling it, and then it came with a missing part. and the handles are of such bad quality. Wear a glove while assembling it!
Great size and lots tod storage.MaryThe slim shape is great in my small home yet it can hold all that ai want.
Decent Substitute for Bisley CabinetMarkThe Helmer drawer unit is a less expensive substitute for the industry standard, Bisley cabinet. The Helmer does not have drawer stops and the drawers do not slide as gracefully as the Bisley, but at 30% of the cost, you can buy three for the price of one Bisley. The rollers (they are not casters) are a nice addition, although I would have preferred casters that swivel instead, so that you could move the unit more than straight out and back.
Helmer reviewStephanieI have several of these and I love them. However, they are now doubled in price. Hard to purchase again at double the price.
Low quality, DO NOT BUYMichaelI have never been so disappointed with a piece of IKEA furniture. This low-quality filing cabinet is flimsy and poorly designed. Within the first month, the drawers stopped staying up with any amount of weight in them (three pens would knock them down). When I reached out to IKEA for support, they told me I had no luck and that it was just the way it is. Save your self the trouble.
size good, but falls apartJillEverything about this is cheap. Finally got it all put together. In just one movement and it fells apart. I love Ikea's other product but this one is a big mess. I am returning it.
Flimsy and cheap MirandaFlimsy and not worth the money. Fell apart within use
Sharp looking file!Virginia AI bought this file to roll under a desk/table that will go in my living room. While I have an office upstairs, it is just easier to have some paperwork in the living room, rather than on my dining room table. It handily supports a years worth of paperwork!
Flimsy(had to throw it away) and drawers are tiny StephanIt's not exactly fair to call it filing cabinet - drawer are very small, would be good to keep screws and tools, not so great for office supplies, can't fit much in the drawer.
And overall construction is too flimsy, drawer railings fall of the walls, the walls don't attach securely
