Handsome, Solid BuildAnonymousOftentimes particle board products are flimsy and ugly. Not the Galant cabinet with doors. It feels solid and looks great once assembled. I had zero issues putting it together thanks to the clear assembly instructions. Thank you Ikea for making this product.
Very Solid CabinetsRichardCabinets can be used for multiple purposes.We purchased ours for use in a pantry. The assembly is laborsome,although once they are assembled,they are great. The have tons of room no matter which shelving positions you choose. The shelves seem to be thick enough to support considerable weight and the cabinets even have an adjustable leveling system that helps to overcome any uneven flooring issues. I would definately buy again.

You can add extra shelves!CatherineThis cabinet works well for storing office supplies. We were able to align the doors so that they look fine from the front of the cabinet. If you look down at the top of the doors, you can see that one door doesn't meet the cabinet frame. Not important to us. The main thing I want to say is THERE IS A WAY TO ADD ADDITIONAL SHELVES. I would not have bought this cabinet otherwise! There are predrilled holes in the cabinet about every 1.5”. You can get additional shelf pegs from Cust. Service at your IKEA store or order online and IKEA will ship them to you for free. We received in just a few days. Menards stores sell a prefinished, "wear-resistant laminate" shelf - same thickness as the Galant shelves & only 0.4” less deep - available in different lengths (and colors). We got the white 6’ and had cut so we have two 30” long shelves (Model #2115855, SKU 2115855). Be sure to Google how to cut laminate so that it doesn’t chip, or have a knowledgeable friend/family member cut for you.

What is particleboard?
Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.
