It's not intended to leave food scraps in long term. I wish I knew this before I bought it. Ikea accepts returns, but I live 2 hours away by car so I can't easily return this so I wasted my money.1

The perfect size for kitchen countertopJenniferI was looking for a compost bin to hold all my kitchen scraps that looks nice but functional. This is it and the price was great! The only downside is the grooves in the lid that are supposed to line up with the handle part of the container. Since I use a compost bin liner when I put that on, it’s hard to line up the groove to the bin exactly. A minor thing but something to consider if there will be a next iteration of this product 5

Compost bins are either very tight to control order or have vents that control them that way, and this has neither. It stinks so badly now that it ever smalls after it comes out of the dishwasher.2
