My only concern is that the base is *very* lightweight, so that combined with the spherical shape makes it feel like it'd be easy to knock it over and have it roll away and break. FLIMSY and breaks at the slightest touchLisaI bought two of these lamps. It broke after one week of use the first time, and I liked how it looked so much that I bought it again and was super delicate with it. I went to move it from one spot to another - CAREFULLY - and the cord touched it just a little and it completed shattered.
So if you want a glass lamp that doesn't last the slightest touch, go for it. Otherwise don't waste your money. (and i tried to contact customer service about it, they said they won't do anything about it)

What is glass?
Glass is mainly made of sand, soda, and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
