IKEA Evedal Lamp – Honest ReviewChristopherThis is the first time I’ve ever written a product review, but my experience with the IKEA Evedal Lamp has been frustrating enough to warrant it.
Assembly was straightforward at first. However, things went downhill fast when I tried to replace the light bulb. The white glass shade was nearly impossible to remove without unscrewing the entire base and other components. In the process, the shade broke and I ended up cutting myself pretty badly. I also couldn’t detach the wooden post from the base, which made everything more difficult than it should be.
Customer service has been slow. I contacted IKEA and after some back and forth, I’m still waiting on a replacement. No resolution yet.
Another frustrating issue: the lamp only supports bulbs up to 13W, which rules out many popular smart bulbs that draw 15W or more. For the price, that limitation is hard to justify.
If you ever need to change the bulb or disassemble it, prepare for a headache — or worse.1
Beautiful lampLisaLooks like a $1500 lamp. It’s gorgeous both when it’s on and off. Love the heavy marble base. 5
broken poleMichelleThere's so much about this lamp that I love, but like others I experienced a break in the wooden pole after a very slight move. The heaviness of the base makes it difficult to move as a whole. The pole cracked at the base and now it's wobby and unsafe. It's been over a year, so now it's (I think) unreturnable and unusable. Sad, because I otherwise love it.1
Love itKatherineI’ll be buying another soon. 5
Evedal floor lampDonnaWe bought this Evedal floor lamp while visiting our son in Buffalo New York from your store in Canada. We loved this lamp so much we were lucky enough to purchase another one from Kansas. Perfect in our home. Thank you IKEA!!5
I love lamp! SarahIt’s the most expensive ikea lamp ever. I was shocked by the price tag. I didn’t buy it but then I couldn’t stop thinking about. I thought on it for over a year, maybe longer. And then I bought it. I’m very happy I did. I love this lamp. It’s pretty on and off. I’d buy it again. It looks higher end than your typical ikea find which I guess is why the price tag reflects. 5
Horrible build qualityMichaelI had to buy this lamp four times. First one, chips, bubbles, marks and scratches on the glass shade, warped pole. Second one, several big glass bubbles. Third one, buffs and marks all over glass shade, warped pole. Fourth one, the glass shade thickness is uneven against the seating on top, so one side of it grates against the interior lamp. I discovered they tried to fix it (hide it) with a sticky wedge underneath the plastic seating, which obviously hadn't fixed the issue. I am too tired to return it a fourth time, spending half a day on a trip to IKEA. Beautiful design, but at this point I'm not sure a quality build of this actually exists.2
Great design, bad QAAnonymous reviewerI love the design but the price I paid for the product is not acceptable for the quality I received. The lamp cover is very warped and does not cover the whole lamp on one side and the wooden pole came with a gash in the bottom3
Love ItInnaStylish! but expensive...anyway love it5
A great findBryanNot a cheap or flimsy lamp, it is a rather elegant piece that is only stereotypical IKEA in its packaging and construction. speaking of, it goes together without fuss and produces a nice throw of light.5
Wanted to love itMariI fell in love with the lamp online and became obsessed when I saw it in the store. $350 for a lamp is a lot of $ me but after 3 months of thinking about it I finally bought it. The quality of the lamp I received is not worth the price. Marble base is not pretty, instead of the veining you would typically see in marble it has white blotches. The wood pole is slightly bowed. The brass cap on the top of the shade does not sit flush against the glass. The outer glass globe has a few bubbles that almost look like chips. For $350 I expected perfection. It does look really cool when it’s lit although it does not give off much light, more like mood lighting. still love the lamp and will keep it with all its flaws.4
Broke after 2 yrs! Dissapointed!JulioI love this lamp and I'm a huge fan of the designer, however the wooden post broke while trying to move it just a bit. Real disappointment after only 2 yrs of ownership2
QA issuesJasmineBubbles in the glass, and warping in the white undershield on two of the lamps I purchased. For the price point you would think there would be more eyes on this product.3
VERY COOLAmadeolooks so expensive in person- tried it with the IKEA remote color change bulb…. Get your vibe righttttt 10/105
Stylish lamp at a great price!NoelWe had been looking for just the right lamp for our 1960's living room. Walking through the lighting section, we happened to see the Evedal. It had just the right look we were hoping for - the lamp is solid, not wobbly, the shade is beautiful, and throws a warm glow. We love it!5
Beautiful, high end lamp at super reasonable priceJoanI have been salivating over this lamp for over one year, but it has always been out of stock. I started wondering if it would be discontinued.
Two weeks ago when I was in the local Ikea store, surprisingly I noticed both the floor lamp and desk lamp were in stock. I grabbed one of each style, checked them out immediately.
The installation for both lamps are super easy.
The lamps are well made with high quality material, and workmanship.
In the store, the outer glass lamp shade is smoky gray. Once they are in my house, I noticed the color actually is an elegant gray with a hint of purple hue. It looks stunning during the day. In the night, it is so beautiful using either a Daylight, or warm color light bulb.
The timeless design of the lamp goes with traditional, transitional, and modern interiors. The price of both floor lamp and desk lamp are beyond reasonable. They are perfectly "at home" among our furniture/finishings of much higher price points.5

evedal floor lampHeatherThis lamp is a beautiful addition to my room. I particularly love the glass shade - giving me two ways to see it - smoky gray when unlit and a lovely creamy glow when lit.
It took a while for it to be available, but it was worth the wait!5
Every beauty has a mistake.Anonymous reviewerA quality product that looks different than its appearance. The biggest problem is very short in length. The upper glass lamp is small. When purchased with a side table, it looks incompatible. Because the side table lamp is much bigger. But it is a quality and impressive product.2
So elegant & top-notch quality!ChristineGranted, this is more than we were thinking of spending, but glad we did! In fact, we were so impressed we splurged and bought two!! This lamp is stylish mid century modern, and the quality is top notch. The marble base weighs about 50 lbs, and there is no way it’s going to topple over. The pull string is smooth. We added an ikea smart bulb that gives it a dimmer capability. They elevate our living room experience!!5
