One of the shelves can be adjusted to 3 different positions.

Versatile, functional, attractiveLizAfter reading some of the comments on here, I have to say: read the descriptions and the instructions! None of the complaints I see here are the fault of the product or Ikea, but of people who can't be bothered to do basic reading.
No, it doesn't attach to the bed. Yes, it attaches to the wall. No need to panic, though. It works fine. It stands on its own if it's against the wall, and if you push the bed up to the headboard, you don't even really need to attach it to the wall. Though if you have ever kids in the house, you really should!
I've attached mine to the wall, but I left the top unattached, so that I could rearrange lamps and such without having to detach all the hardware. Gravity holds it just fine. Again, though: no kids in my house.
It's heavy and a bit of a bear to put together, but if you don't have room in the bedroom, you can assemble it elsewhere and move it. It is just short of the standard door height. I assembled it by myself, but I needed help to move it.

DisappointedGuthrieWe've been loyal IKEA fans for decades and defended it even when friends begged us to buy "real furniture."
Unfortunately, this headboard proved them correct. Ports are too small to fit plugs into; so we assembled and THEN found out our IKEA lamps won't fit through to plug at the bottom. Plus, it damages very quickly. Shelves have notches to fit into the grooves for only the front end of the shelves I don't recommend.

Will this fit to my standard metal bed frame?OliverI see that it's designed to attach to a specific bed frame. Would it fit to my queen size frame? Or does it attach to the wall and the bed simply lays in front of it? Thank you for your response.
Very niceSaraEverything as expected, easy to assemble as far as IKEA furniture goes, IYKYK....lol Looks very nice when added with the BRIMNES bed, lots of little storage cubby holes and cut outs against the wall to run cords through. Anchors to the wall and not actually attached to the bed frame just FYI. Very happy with my purchase!
Decent headboardDanielleThe headboard is nice and is great for storage however the rating is solely based on the process of putting it together. Almost everything I’ve purchased from ikea is so difficult to put together. Whether it’s screws not fitting, parts not staying together or directions not being clear etc. For this reason alone I probably will not be getting anymore big items from ikea.

The long top shelf is a great landing place for books, alarm clock, a special looking light.

We have wanted this bedBethWe have wanted this bed for 2 years but it was out of stock. So excited to finally get it and worth the wait. The assembly was filled with NSFW language but our marriage survived it. I love the headboard storage and the drawers underneath are huge!! Very happy
