HORRIBLE redesignEmilyI purchased this dresser (the original version) back in 2016 for my daughter’s nursery and absolutely loved it. The drawers were deep, sturdy, and pulled out ALL THE WAY which made a huge difference for storage and usability. It held up beautifully over the years, so when we needed another dresser, I didn’t hesitate to buy the same one again.
Unfortunately, the design has clearly been restyled, and not for the better. The new drawers are bulky but don’t fully extend, which makes it difficult to access items in the back. It’s honestly the most frustrating design change. The whole reason we loved the original was the full-extension drawers, and now that functionality is gone.
I’m extremely disappointed because I assumed I was getting the same quality and usability as before. Instead, I’m stuck with a dresser that doesn’t even open all the way. IKEA, this redesign missed the mark.

New rails are horribleAnnaWe have the old BRIMNES drawers and they're amazing. We decided to get a second set for our bedroom. These took a long time to assemble and the drawers barely pull out. It's basically useless. We paid for delivery to pick this up at a location 2 hours away so returning it is not an option as we don't have an IKEA remotely close to us. Will not by any more BRIMNES items like this. They say it's a safety standard but we have several other furniture pieces where the entire drawer is functional so I'm not sure why these are so useless. Good for socks and clothes you never wear because you can't see them or reach them. If I could return, I would but I've already spent enough money driving and paying for "local pickup" which is still several hours away.

Drawers only open halfway EvgeniiaThis is my second BRIMNES dresser, and I was disappointed to discover that the drawers only open halfway instead of almost fully like on my older one. This significantly reduces functionality and everyday convenience.
It’s impossible to access items at the back of the drawer without removing everything from the front first. Such limitations should be clearly stated before purchase, not discovered after assembly.

01/17/2026FernandoI’m replacing my Hemnes, gray six drawer dresser with this one and can say I was shocked by the little height difference. I have the Brimnes bed which is why I chose to replace the Hemnes and was concerned the Brimnes would be too short for me. I’m a tall man and I did lose two drawers worth of space and height but it really doesn’t show much. I wish it wasn’t particle board but I made the choice. 4/5

Super cabinetDonBrimnes dresser is sturdy and the drawers open/close easily and are deeper than others that we observed. Recommended.
Error in assembly instructionsDanielleDresser seems solid. Some issues in previous models seem to have been resolved, such as an added center brace to support the bottom of the drawers. It is true that the drawers don’t open as wide, but I believe that is to prevent structural issues and/or tipping, so I’m willing to deal with that.
In the assembly instructions, when you are directed to attach the drawer guides, the instructions tell you to attach CR to both sides. However, this is inaccurate. One side will use CR, the other side will use CL.

Sides have no support and bow outJoeSince there are no supports across the front, the sides cannot handle the weight of the massive drawers and bow out causing the drawers slides to not work. Fundamental design flaw.

just what I wantedGreggI have to admit, this was the perfect purchase, the style, color and the size are just perfect for my bedroom. I brought two and the ease of putting them together was another plus. When I say this item was just I wanted, I really mean this, after looking at several stores for a chest I'm so happy I found the Brimnes.
