DO NOT BUY - Or Hire Assembly TaskrabbitCaitlinI wish I had checked these reviews before purchasing. We experienced the exact same thing. Having built many items from Ikea over the decades, this was by far the worst experience we've ever had. There is no comprehensive set of instructions & you have to pick up everything separately, it's not all contained in one, convenient box. All instructions are with each piece w/ no additional info for how any of it was supposed to work together, creating a Frankenstein, guessing game. What should have taken a few hours, took us several weeks. We even spent more $ buying spare parts when the originals became damaged due to all trial and erroring. We understand the benefit of customizing, but at the very least, Ikea should provide a comprehensive set of instructions & make it more clear on the website that this isn't a normal, all-in-one-box project. We had no idea what we were getting into until we got home and in too deep. If every experience was like this we'd never buy from here again.1
WORST PIECE EVER!AminI have purchased my fair share of furniture from IKEA and am well aware of instruction difficulty at times. If it has step by step, it can be done, but THIS PIECE! You can get the frame up, no problem, because it has instructions. You can get the drawers put together, no problem, because they have INSTRUCTIONS but we will come back to this. Even the doors, I will say okay...maybe someone might mess up but if you align it with the bottom of the frame you know which holes the hinges screw into. BUT...fitting those draws so that they are flush and you have the right bracket height so that it slides in, you might want to provide INSTRUCTIONS. Then we get to the face of the drawers...pretty sure the instructions are wrong. Tell you to put the face of the drawers one way, just to find out the face is actually upside down for this configuration. I mean COME ON! Sadly agree with most others, once it put together, you realize the price tag is not live up to the quality. Wish I could give a 0!1
Worst piece of furniture from IkeaAlexReally wanted this to work but the drawers are too complicated to install. Frame and bottom doors work and was easy to install but the drawers. Had three different people try and no can get them to work. For this money drawers should be easy. I bought 2 of these units and they are basically useless. I have assembled many different items from Ikea and this is the worst. Draws hardware is stripped from multiple times trying to get them to work.1
Worst IKEA product I ever bought!TriciaWOW! I love IKEA, I don't LOVE assembly, but it's ok, I do it without too much trouble, but THIS PIECE! WOW!!! It is TERRIBLE! Comes in so many different packages, the Besta is the shelving frame, the legs are something different and then the Hedeviken door and drawer panels are different yet! I made the mistake of buying three different items of furniture at the same time, all had the light oak veneer and it was impossible to tell what piece went to what. The delivery guys wanted me to sign that everything was there - what a joke! Impossible! Some pieces to all three items were in one single box. NOTHING told which interior holes (meant for the adjustable shelving inside) you should use for the drawer slides. Nothing marked "top". I had to install the first drawer three times to get it right and the screw heads were nearly stripped out by the time I was done! It wouldn't have tolderated a forth. I could go on... DON'T DO IT!1
Costs at least double what it shouldAnonymous reviewerI’m confused as to how and why this thing costs as much as it does. I bought it online and regret not looking at it in store first, although I’ve never seen these on display anyway. The quality is cheap cheap cheap, the color is way off from the photos (much more gray-washed/fake looking than the images provided). My husband assembled it and figured it out ok but he has a lot of experience with assembling with little to no instructions after our ikea kitchen. Overall, we’d keep it & make it work if it was around $100 but for $260, we can’t justify it with how cheap it looks, feels, and functions. Sad. 2
worst piece of ikea furniture everSalif there was an opportunity to give this zero stars i would. you have to have a phd in ikea furniture assembly to put this thing together. it's like a frankensteined set of pieces with no instructions on how to assemble it. wish i would have read the reviews first before buying this.
ironic that they call this besta. should be called worsta!!1
Does not fit togetherKimThe entire piece doesn't fit together right. Why sell parts separately. Just sell one piece all together that fits together properly.1
Looks nice but don't forget to buy handlesArpitI got this storage unit about half a year ago and it's been great. My only problem with it has been that I didn't also buy handles so it's tough opening the drawers or doors. Plus, the hinges on IKEA Besta products in general seem to be a hit or miss. Some of my hinges don't support the doors well and that led to a slightly downward-tilting door.3
Close to perfectCarlPhenomenal piece but lacking Soft Close on doors and drawers.5
