Looks nice, but unstableVladimirGreat look, horrible stability. Wabbles and shelves barely align. Had to screw both units together to get them at least less wabbly. 2
Like the look; needed metal braces for stabilityMariaI ordered 3 Besta cabinets and no problem putting them together. However, they were unstable and wobbly. I had a difficulty getting them "square" and unable to level them all-around horizontally and vertically. I purchased and installed metal corner braces for the top and bottom to provide more stability and reduce the sway. Since the cabinets were next to each other, it is important to me that the horizontal and vertical lines of the doors visually aligned. Additionally, the provided rear top plastic pieces to secure to the wall were generally useless. I screwed a 1"x 2 1/2" strip of wood to the wall and then screwed the cabinet to the strip. I will likely replace the push-open pieces with small knobs. Bottom line, they're fine and look good enough for my basement/game room storage, but I wouldn't use them elsewhere in my house. I won't purchase these cabinets again. The cost does not equate to the quality. 3
Wobbly and UnstableBlairI was excited to use the "design it yourself" feature for Besta and make the perfect functional storage shelf for my space. Unfortunately, the entire frame, once constructed, shifts to the right. I placed it back on the ground to see if I had missed any key stabilizing points, but I had not. One of the white screw in pieces was damaged in the package but if this entire frame leans to the right, unstable, all because of one plastic screw in piece then that is a different concern.
I do not feel that this frame is safe, and I am not hopeful that I'll be able to return it as it has been fully assembled. Super disappointing as I've always felt confident in IKEA products, but now I don't even know what to do with this item besides NOT recommend it. Lots of money down the drain.
Also, the drawer option for this frame will have a gap looking into the drawer if you don't get a door/drawer above it since the shelves do not extend to the front edge of the frame. Doesn't look good at all.1
Besta furnitureMariaThis furniture its very pretty and elegant but the purpose of it help a lot to storage a lot of things5
Massive downgradeWilI have an older version of this BESTA unit and it is absolutely solid. I use it as an entertainment center and it has no trouble with a tv, stereo, game consoles, and a bunch of vinyl records. So when I needed to add storage to my office this seemed like a now brainer.
The new one wobbles so much I’m nervous to put anything on it. I had to add corner braces to it to even make it usable.
I tightened everything as tight as I could get it, but the design no longer uses the wooden pegs to hold everything in place.
The instructions say to mount it to the wall, but it’s absolutely absurd that I need to permanently affix it to my wall to make my furniture not wobbly so a company can save 2 bucks on materials. How am I supposed to vacuum under it or dust the wall and baseboard behind it? Take it apart? Seems it would be easier for IKEA to just make it not awful in the first place. 1
Perfect for our needsJoeExtended an existing BestA bookcase on a wall and this was perfect in terms of the size/space we had to work with. 5
Perfect for my shoesBettyIt fit perfectly under my window and with the black storage boxes it always looks neat and clean. I did have a problem leveling it but then I realized I don’t need it to be perfectly balanced. 5

* For those using for home theatre componentsAnonymous reviewerFor those of you planning to use this cabinet to house a home theatre amplifier, you may have some rear clearance issues with cabling. Specifically with HDMI cables and banana-plug speaker cables. Make sure to calculate the extra depth clearance for these cables to plug in and for the amplifier to slide in far enough for the door to close.4
No complaints. Worked perfectly.KimberlyWe found these while looking for storage along a large fireplace wall in our multi-room. It matches perfectly with our existing Billy/Oxberg glass door bookcases. Plenty of storage without that “heavy” furniture feel.
Used multiple of these as double and single to create length of cabinet needed.5
Tall unit 23x50" is wobbly and doors on top won't alignAnonymous reviewerAssembled two tall units (23" wide x 50" tall ) and both base units were wobbly. Very strange as I have purchased ALOT of Bestas in the past. Added a 15" Kallviken door to the top of the frames and could not get them to align properly. The sides seems to be weak because the back piece is thin and doesn't provide stability. Added the larger 25" door on the bottom of the frames which seemed to be fine. However, I will be returning both of the tall units for the wider frame (47 wide x 25 tall). Stacking them will hopefully provide more stability when adding doors since the weight is distributed more horizontally. The taller unit is probably best with only one door on the bottom and open shelves on the top.3
Not the BestaAnnaI really like the versitility of this product. I purchasedThe base was a bit wobbily, however that is before I secured it to the wall. The smaller bases seemed to be more stable.3
Great Media ConsoleLynneExactly what I was looking for. I give it five stars for appearance.
TWO STARS!
For the inconvenience of having to visit store five times because so many pieces were out of stock. 5
Worst piece of IKEA furniture I've purchased.KarlFirst, I thought I was buying a particular unit, with legs and doors and such. Everything was charged and delivered separately.
Second, the cabinet seems to have no stability. It leans back and forth no matter how much I tighten those plastic (yes, PLASTIC!) screw grip things. When metal ones were used, I never had a problem. I am not happy. I'm going to have to buy some corner brackets to make sure this thing doesn't collapse.1
Not an easy build, but nice when finishedBarbaraI’ll start by saying this is a solid, sturdy piece once it is together. However, this one tried my engineer husband’s patience, and he has assembled many IKEA pieces with no problem— five Billy bookcases (some with doors), four dressers, a huge wardrobe, a crib, and now a set of these Bestas. He completed the base sections, hooked them together and to the wall, started putting on the doors, got to the bottom ones and the door bottoms rubbed on the carpeting. After taking this down to get at the height adjustment pieces underneath, it was much more difficult to get everything to line up. If those squares are off by a fraction of an inch, it is glaringly obvious.
High time for IKEA to invest money into creating better assembly directions.

Besta cabinetManojNot a good design. The cabinet is not stable. 2
Overall pretty happy with the resultJanNotwithstanding the delivery company that Ikea has decided to work with, I am pretty happy with what I got. The besta system may not be the best quality but the end result looks pretty good and it is relatively simple to put together. Just be sure to anchor to a wall or connect to other units. Freestanding these shelves are pretty flimsy. As for the delivery company, make sure to check your delivery because they don't care once they are done. I had to track down my own missing pieces at someone else's house. They don't care.4
