The wall shelf has one bevelled and one smooth edge on the long side, so you can choose the side you want facing the room depending on which of the two different styles you like the most.
Good to know
The shelf carries a max. of 22 lbs when properly mounted on the wall.
Max. load refers to the max. weight before the shelf is risking to slant. Distribute the weight evenly on the shelf to avoid the risk of slanting.

Great product but no screwsMarkEverything is great except for the screws.
I understand that different type of walls require a specific screw but why not just include another check out feature where we can choose the screws for our wall type?
With this, it wont be too much of a hassle wondering the screws that we should be using.
Nice shelf and brackets, but no screws includedChristinaI see now that it's mentioned in the product details that there are no screws included. But still annoying as this is the first ikea item I've ever purchased that didn't come with all of the hardware needed. The brackets are pretty and the shelf is nice, but trying to figure out screws gives me a headache every time. There should at least be suggestions for screws needed. Or an available set of screws to purchase separately, which I have done with other shelf brackets purchased at a hardware store.
No Screws ProvidedIvyI have purchased many IKEA shelves over the years and assembled them without issues. I cannot, however, understand why this shelf came without any screws or additional hardware. IKEA's excuse is that these shelves are hung on walls of all different types, and they cannot possibly predict what kind of hardware is needed, but it is insane that they provided nothing to attach the shelf to the bracket. That is the same in 100% of the assemblies of this product. There are no pre-drilled holes, and the instructions (as with all IKEA products) are completely lacking. What size screw might be recommended? What head type? No information besides poorly drawn illustrations. These shelves sat in a corner and collected a lot of dust before I made a reluctant trip to the hardware store.
