Sturdy outdoor workspaceGregA beautiful, space efficient workspace for light duty cooking and food preparation. There’s room for counter top appliances like a smoker grill or food recycler and storage for each during cleanup. Place a cutting board over the sink then pop the scraps into the composter while grilling outside. No kitchen mess, heat or smells indoors! Add the seasoning rack on the back and you are set for many quick meals you want to prepare. Build an outdoor kitchen for a reasonable price. The corner screws and bolts are a bit tight to get at, but the assembly intstructions are also to ikea standards. If it’s too challenging, have the ikea pros set it up for you.5
Assembly NightmareMichaelAs a previous reviewer noted, putting this together was a nightmare. As vague as Ikea directions can be with their 'cutesy' images and less-is-more approach, this one needed much clearer direction.
On the product landing page it made it very clear that you needed to buy the faucet separately, but it wasn't clear if the same was the case for the sink basin, so I called Ikea to confirm, and they told me that yes the sink basin was included. Surprise: it's not.
The instructions tell you to drill a hole in the countertop for the faucet (I don't remember what size they specified off the top of my head), but first thought was why isn't the hole already there? And when I go to install the faucet, surprise number two: the hole Ikea told me to drill is not nearly big enough to fit the faucet Ikea told me is compatible with this product....
Ultimately, it looks great and we have a whole setup with the other modular units of this design. But buckle up for a lengthy assembly.3
No sink included.RobertI love the look and quality of this outdoor series but when purchasing in store the display has a sink basin and faucet. There are no signs telling you that you must purchase them separately. Thats almost an extra $200 on what is already a fairly expensive piece. For nearly $500 it should come with a sink basin at least, especially when it doesnt fit a standard one you can buy elsewhere.2
Love the Unit, Assembly was A NIGHTMAREKellyI bought this last season and wrote this review- now I see it’s been “refreshed” as a new product so all the old reviews are gone. Not cool, IKEA. Here’s the summary:
-unit is great, looks good on my patio & makes an awesome outdoor kitchen setup next to our Blackstone. I love it.
-Assembly was a nightmare. I’m an experienced IKEA assembler (I even think it’s kinda fun). This thing stole 5 hours of my life, some blood, and filled the neighborhood with the sound of my curses. Particularly problematic was the sink mount- the original sink mount parts were bunk so they included new ones…. In a tiny separate pouch AND left the old ones in With the main hardware. This means you struggle with the original busted ones for untold amts of time before realizing there was a replacement, which only the product customer told me existed. Perhaps this “new” version they’ve adjusted that- keep your eyes open!!!4
