So Comfortable !!DrewThis is a very comfortable couch. Whether reading or lounging watching a movie this is a relaxing couch. It was also very easy to assemble. I'm an 84-year-old senior, but my 14-year-old grandson and myself had it assembled in about a half hour. I really do recommend this couch if you are shopping at IKEA for one.5
Worth the money!JeffWe purchased both the sofa and the chair. We've had them for about a month. They are very comfortable; however you really need to wash the covers before you use them. Washing the covers not only makes them softer, but you get rid of the sizing, making them a lot more comfortable to sit on. I have a steamer that I used on the wrinkles; however ironing is recommended. The cross pieces are made out of steel, and will have no problem supporting heavy people. Assembly is best preformed with two people. As a side note, we have Ikeas wing backed chair with the natural slip cover. This is the same color and material used on this sofa. We've had the chair for several years, and have washed the cover many times over the years; however if you happen to have cats, like we do, then you'll love the fabric used on the sofa as the cats don't do anything to the cover when they scratch.5
Great sofa but assembly was a bit tricky.ChantalI’m impressed with the quality of this sofa. The metal frame is very sturdy and the slipcover is great quality especially since it’s washable (and it’s cat friendly!). The seat is firm but comfortable. If you are short (I am 5’1 ft) getting off the sofa may be harder because it’s a very deep sofa.
My only complaint is that assembly wasn’t very easy as a single person. You will need a helper to assemble.5

Thin back cushionsSophieI loved this couch when I tried it in the showroom but what a disappointment when it arrived. It takes a lot of effort to iron the cover--I can't imagine what it will be like when I wash it. But more importantly, the back cushions are as thin as pancakes. They provide NO support. I will try to remedy by adding more filling. I hope IKEA can help me with that. Otherwise, fairly well built.3
So disappointedLaurelI have an Uppland that I’m in love with and thought I’d try the Backsalen, after hearing good things. I got my delivery yesterday and I’m so disappointed with the sofa. It’s firm and uncomfortable and looks rather sloppy, like a sofa that someone has thrown a sheet over. I’d return it for an Uppland on a heartbeat if I could but I have no way to get it back to IKEA. Huge waste of money, in my opinion. Serious buyer’s remorse with this one.2
