Decent valueSamuelThis is a decent value for a basic air quality monitor. It’s small and unobtrusive, and its matter connection works well with home assistant. I’d say the display makes it functionally useless outside if a smart home environment, where you rely on something else to display the data, but it works for my use case.
My biggest gripe is the clock. You have to set it manually with a very unintuitive series of button presses. If it loses power you have to set the clock again. There is no apparent way to set it through your matter connected smart home hub.
Another odd design choice is that you can only turn the display on and off through the smart home hub. No way to do it with physical buttons.4
I have 2 of them and the CO2 is off by 400 PPMHaoJust buy a good one. this is not worth your time1
Accurate sensor, broke 3 separate timesLoganThe sensor is amazingly accurate, and I loved having it in my room as an alarm clock. However, I went through 3 in like 1 month because they kept boot looping after a few days of being plugged in, resetting the time, brightness, and setting it to CO2 instead of the clock.3
Great purchase! Love the clock mode.NeemaI’m using mine as a small clock on my bedroom nightstand that also happens to log air quality and CO2 levels as I sleep. I was particularly impressed that it automatically adjusts its brightness to match the room when I turn the lights down. What a great design choice! It’s clear that IKEA had considered this exact use case. Works with Home Assistant.5
Work's as advertisedChristopherDoes what I want, wish it worked with Starkvind.5
Get the power cable.ReganUSB-C cables will work just fine too, but this thing needs to be plugged in 100%. There is no battery in it to charge.4
Life ChangingJeffreyThis terrifying little gadget taught me that I was killing myself in my apartment with the windows closed. No more! Now I know just how bad it gets when I use my gas stove and set my world and health on fire. Thanks, IKEA!5
Great Addition to my Smart homeTomI love these, and have 4 of them running in my smart home. They connect perfectly with Google Home through Matter over Thread and expose all the information I need to keep my family healthy!! The price is perfect as well5
Excellent -- once connectedAndrewIt took many tries to get it connected, but I'm really happy with it now that it's set up. This is an awesome little device. I have several of them around the house.5
Capable for the price, but some flawsJoshuaFor the price, this is a very capable device. The CO2 readings are imprecise, but are reasonably accurate and useful for the basic purpose of knowing whether to ventilate the room. Competing products with more precise sensors are much more expensive.
The biggest problem is that temperature unit and 12 vs 24 hour time selection do not persist when unplugging the device. The device also offers no way for a Matter hub to read or update these settings, even though the Matter standard does offer a way to do so. Hopefully Ikea will fix this in a firmware update.3
Will not Connect to DIRIGERAMartinHub firmware up to date, dozens of attempts. Matter devices get stuck at "checking connectivity to Thread network.1
Half-BakedMaxThe alpstuga multi-sensor has some nice features, but there are several design flaws which make it a pain to use. It seems to report temperatures and CO2 concentrations which differ wildly from other sensors, so I'm not sure how reliable the sensors in the alpstuga are. Even worse, when the device loses power, it does not retain any settings. There are some features which should be exposed to smart home controllers but aren't, such as the LED brightness and the ability to calibrate temperature readings.3
Works With Home Assistant - No Temp CalibrationAnonymousConnected to my Home Assistant and updated to the latest firmware. The temperature sensor reads 4 F high and no way to calibrate. The device displays real time however time setting is lost when you loose power and it is not updated when connected to a matter network. Poor design includes: device settings do not persist with a power failure, when connected to a matter network the real time is not synchronized and unable to calibrate the temperature sensor.3
Great deviceAndrewLike all of the new IKEA Matter over Thread accessories, it was tricky to get this connected. But now that it is, it’s a great device with lots of functionality at a great price. 4
Works well when integrated with Home AssistantPaulI bought 2 of these, one for each floor, They are sensitive.
I integrated them with Home Assistant and can cycle my HVAC system fan when PM2.5 levels are high. My HVAC fan uses a hepa 13 carbon backed filter that removes particulate matter.
It integrated with thread easily and directly without ikea's app. The also did firmware upgrades from Home Assistant
Since I'm using it with automation, I don't need it to display anything. I can use programming to turn the display off, but it persists to turn it back on after a power failure. I don't need a clock (that's likely on the wrong time) or numbers that guests don't understand what they mean. "It says 580, is that good, what does that mean?". I wish it simple remembered its last state, including off5
OfflineWendyI really like the sensor but it keeps going offline for no reason and forces me to unplug and set up again.3
Eye-opening data on indoor air qualityJavenI bought 2. Installed one in the bedroom and one in the kitchen. I couldn't believe how high the CO2 got in bedroom with the door closed, which may have contributed to poor sleep quality. When cooking in the kitchen, even using the range fan, PM2.5 gets into unsafe levels and stays high for several hours. I can't believe I was living with unhealthy indoor air quality all this time.
Feature request #1: add a mode to cycle the LED display between all sensors at a reasonable time interval (15 seconds?). I'd rather glance at the display while cooking than dig around on my phone for the smart home dashboard.
Feature request #2: when PM2.5 or CO2 air quality is unhealthy but isn't currently shown on the LED display, there's no indication on the display that air quality is poor. Please do something to alert the user about poor air quality on the display, like flash the orange dot or toggle the display between the active display and the unhealthy measurements.5
Promising Start, eventual failChipI like the display, and the number of things it will monitor and for a reasonable price. However, after a few days the CO2 monitor began to lose it, climbing steadily past 1000 ppm even in outside air. Disappointing.1
A good start, but needs updatesAdamI had no trouble adding Alpstuga to Apple Home and my existing thread network. The firmware update went through smoothly, which is a good sign.
The main issues I have are:
* Temperature does not show in Apple Home. Humidity, CO2, and PM2.5 all do, but not temperature.
* Changing temperature unit from C to F does not persist, and it resets back to C.
* Dimming is nice, but I'd like a way to turn off the display altogether (or ideally, have it turn on briefly when the top button is pressed). Right now I wouldn't want to have it in a bedroom at all.
* Software updates need a changelog. We need a set URL where we can see firmware version releases with what changed. Otherwise we're stuck guessing whether our issues have been addressed.4
Great CO2 MonitorKirillThe CO2 sensor is quite accurate and serves as a reminder for me when I need to open the windows and ventilate the room.5
