Longer shelf support pins for the HEMNES bookcases and glass cabinets are available to IKEA customers free of charge, ensuring that IKEA patrons can safely enjoy their products.

IKEA is making a safety announcement for HEMNES bookcases and glass cabinets. The affected HEMNES bookcases and glass cabinets have been sold in US stores and online from April 2010 to April 2017 for between $149- $399. Please see below for a full list of affected articles.

IKEA of Sweden has received 29 global reports of injury due to shelves falling from the HEMNES units due to wood shrinkage. Seventeen of these reported incidents occurred in the United States, resulting in minor cuts or bruises.

We are urging customers who may need longer shelf support for HEMNES models purchased from April 2010 to April 2017, to contact IKEA for new longer pins free of charge. No proof of purchase (receipt) is needed to obtain replacement pins.
