IKEA U.S. Supports Climate Action by Congress
At IKEA U.S., we believe that businesses, governments and the public alike must work together to address the existential threat of climate change and create a better future for all. That is why we urge Congress to include robust funding for strong climate measures as it considers the Build Back Better Act, including – but not limited to – establishing the Clean Electricity Performance Program (CEPP) to achieve a net-zero electricity grid by 2035, expanding and extending incentives for clean energy and electric vehicles, and enlisting a new Civilian Climate Corps.
It is critical that we act now to address the climate crisis. We applaud the Biden administration for the bold sustainability initiatives proposed in the Build Back Better Act. We at IKEA understand that this will require sacrifices to make a positive difference, and we are committed to continuing to do our part to mitigate climate change.
IKEA is taking steps to become a circular and climate-positive company by 2030. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made – and will continue to make – as we address our climate footprint throughout the entire IKEA value chain. Among other ambitious goals, we are committed to having 100% zero-emission home deliveries by 2025. IKEA has successfully deployed commercial electric vehicles for last-mile delivery in select markets, and the inclusion of electric vehicles and renewable energy provisions in the Build Back Better Act will make clean energy investments accessible to companies of all sizes.
