IKEA advances U.S. growth strategy with new expansion, digital investments, and strengthened sustainability efforts

IKEA U.S. releases FY25 Annual Summary and announces four new stores planned for 2026
Conshohocken, PA – February 17, 2026 – Today, IKEA U.S. released its 2025 Annual Summary, highlighting key milestones in customer engagement, sustainable growth and purposeful community impact achieved between September 1, 2024, and August 31, 2025. Alongside the summary, IKEA also announced plans to open four additional U.S. stores in 2026—in Chicago, Tulsa, Fort Collins and Los Angeles—further building on the six locations previously announced and bringing the current total number to 10 new stores slated to open in 2026.
Despite challenging external factors including increased inflation and waning consumer confidence, IKEA U.S. reported $5.3 billion in total sales, including $1.9 billion in ecommerce in FY25. The company welcomed nearly 61 million visitors to its stores and over 457 million visitors online. The IKEA Family Rewards program reached a milestone of 25 million members in FY25, a 17% increase from FY24.
“FY25 was a year of meaningful connection and growth despite a challenging external environment. We strengthened our ability to serve customers through new store formats, digital innovation and expanded rewards, all while reinforcing our commitment to communities and the environment,” said Rob Olson, Interim CEO of IKEA U.S. “Looking ahead to FY26, we will build on this momentum, focusing on continued investment in the U.S. to make IKEA more affordable, accessible and sustainable.”
Expanding retail presence through new store formats and more convenient access
In FY25, IKEA advanced its efforts to grow brand presence and make shopping more convenient by opening 14 new retail locations, including two new small-format stores in Arcadia, CA and San Marcos, TX. Nine Plan & Order Points with integrated pickup services were also launched in key markets such as Charlotte, NC; Roseville, MN; Ontario, CA and Colma, CA. At the same time, IKEA continued enhancing its existing store network to further improve customer experience.
The 2026 new store openings announced today include:
- IKEA Culver City, Los Angeles’ first city-center store
- IKEA Tulsa, the first IKEA store in Oklahoma
- IKEA Gurnee Mills in the Chicago area
- IKEA Fort Collins, joining IKEA Centennial and IKEA Colorado Springs in Colorado
The six other previously announced 2026 store locations include Huntsville, AL; University Park in Dallas, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Rockwall in Dallas, TX; Chantilly/Dulles in the Washington, DC region; and Houston–Webster, TX.
Enhancing customer experience through digital innovation and IKEA Family benefits
FY25 marked a year of continued investment in digital infrastructure and customer tools designed to make shopping easier and more personalized. Highlights include:
- Launched the new Rewards from IKEA Family, enabling customers to earn points across the entire IKEA journey
- Celebrated 25 million IKEA Family members (a 17% increase from FY24), which contributed to 56% of total U.S. sales
- Assisted more than 73,000 customers with remote Furniture and Kitchen planning expertise
- Modernized fulfillment operations through automation, drones and a new delivery management platform, offering greater delivery visibility and communication for customers
Advancing commitments to people, communities and the planet
Throughout FY25, IKEA continued to strengthen its role as a partner in social and environmental impact both nationally and in the local communities where we operate. Key achievements include:
- Continued progress toward IKEA climate goals, with zero-emission delivery growing to 49% year-over-year
- Partnered with Too Good To Go, saving an estimated 42,600 meals from going to waste and engaging more than 33,000 people
- Donated $768,000 to six national organizations, plus five matching campaigns and 15 activated local partnerships
- Achieved a 100% score on the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index
- Generated $200,000 for The Trevor Project and Rainbow Railroad through Pride activations and product-linked initiatives
