CONSHOHOCKEN, PA – July 25, 2018 – Today IKEA U.S. announced it was named one of PEOPLE’s “50 Companies That Care, which recognizes U.S. companies that have succeeded in business while also demonstrating respect, care and concern for their employees, their communities and the environment.

The second annual list will be featured in the August 6, 2018 issue of PEOPLE, which will be available in newsstands nationwide on Friday, July 27th. The rankings represent feedback from over 4.5 million U.S. employees. PEOPLE partnered with Great Place to Work, a global people analytics and consulting firm, to analyze employees’ survey feedback on how their workplaces make a difference in their lives and communities, and to consider the generosity of each organization's benefits, philanthropic and community support.

“At IKEA, we are committed to creating a better everyday life for the people and communities touched by our business,” said Lars Petersson, IKEA U.S. President. “We believe equality is a human right and that our co-workers uniqueness makes IKEA better. From building a diverse and inclusive work environment for our co-workers, where everyone feels valued and respected, to giving back to our communities through local, national and global programs, we believe that together we can make a positive difference.“

Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work, adds, “This year’s 50 Companies That Care are taking their great workplace cultures to an even higher level by supporting ALL employees by making sure to include refugees, immigrants, people of color, veterans, women, LGBT and disabled people and their communities through giving back, solving public problems, pro bono work, volunteering and more.”

IKEA is committed to helping its local communities through several programs. For example, in 2018, IKEA completed its ‘5,000 Dreams’ program to donate 5,000 beds and bedding over two years to newly-arrived refugee families starting new lives in America – working in partnership with the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, the International Rescue Committee and the Ethiopian Community Development Council.

IKEA U.S. co-workers also traveled to Houston, TX in April along with long-term IKEA partner, Save the Children, to help provide disaster relief to a community deeply affected by Hurricane Harvey. The co-workers and Save the Children representatives visited with children and childcare providers and helped renovate a classroom to add capacity and prepare the schoolyard for play and creativity.
