IKEA Escondido, new Plan and order point with Pick-up, will open spring 2026

IKEA customers can meet with the IKEA store team to plan and order home furnishing solutions that require a bit more help - such as kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms.

Conshohocken, PA – (October 9th, 2025) – Today, IKEA U.S. announced plans for a new Plan and order point with Pick-up located in Escondido, which is set to open to the public in Spring, 2026. This new customer meeting point, conveniently located in the Escondido Promenade, brings the IKEA experience closer to the Escondido community. This is just the first of several exciting announcements coming soon to bring the IKEA Brand closer to more of the many people in Southern California. This was announced by the unit on October 9th. The IKEA Escondido Plan and order point with Pick-up is one of many new format locations that are part of the growth strategy for IKEA U.S. - increasing accessibility to the brand and ensuring there are more ways to meet customers where they are and how they like to shop. It is different from the traditional large-format IKEA stores as it gives customers the opportunity to meet with the IKEA store team to plan and order home furnishing solutions that require a bit more help - such as kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms.

While customers are unable to take products home that day, IKEA co-workers can arrange for delivery or schedule orders to be picked up from the convenient, onsite pick-up location. With the addition of an IKEA Pick-up point, customers will be able to collect their purchases when and where it is convenient for them, supporting purchases made at the plan and order point as well as online at IKEA.us. Online shoppers will have the option to pick up qualifying orders by selecting IKEA Escondido as their preferred pick-up location at checkout.

IKEA has been in the San Diego market for 25 years, since opening the first store in San Diego in 2000. IKEA Escondido will be in the Escondido Promenade, a retail center at 1200 Auto Park Way, covering 798 square feet of leased retail space.

IKEA Escondido is making IKEA more accessible and affordable for customers in the San Diego metropolitan area. However, customers craving the beloved meatballs and other IKEA Food offerings will still need to make a trip to IKEA San Diego.

In addition to opening new plan and order points in city centers, IKEA U.S. has made significant investments to enhance its e-commerce experience and service offerings, including new benefits for IKEA Family members, lower priced shipping and delivery, Click & collect, and TaskRabbit assembly services.
