Why is there a recycling fee for my online order?
Information about mattress purchases.
Mattresses purchased in California, Connecticut and Rhode Island, and Oregon have a recycling fee attached to the purchase as required by state mandate. The standard $30 mattress removal fee does not apply in these states.
California
All mattress retailers located in California must collect a $18 mattress recycling fee on every mattress purchased, as required by the state.
Connecticut
All mattress retailers located in Connecticut must collect a $16 mattress recycling fee on every mattress purchased, as required by the state. This fee applies to all mattress and box springs sold as of Jan. 1, 2025.
Rhode Island
The fee collected per unit in Rhode Island applies to mattresses and box springs as of May 1, 2016. The recycling fee, as approved by the state, is $22.50.
