This is a great all-around and versatile desk that has a reasonable size and quality for the money. Some people said the adjusting this table is a pain, but that's not what we experienced. This is not designed to be a standing/sitting lifting table. If needed, simply adjust the height of the chair. Overall, this unit absolutely deserves a five star. I would recommend everyone to buy it.
Remeber to firmly assemble itAnonymousI've bought this about 10 months ago and the tilting problem of this desk brought me back to leave a review. The desk has been slowly tilting. I was able to withstand it but I cannot anymore. My muscle in my shoulder area sores and I think it may have been because of tilted desk. Please make sure to assemble your product firmly. I think I assembled the desk pretty sturdily with a help of two men, but I am not sure where it went wrong. I really like the desk design but the tilting and shaking the this desk made me feel like the worst desk I've ever bought.

Most desks today seem to be very shallow, as if they intend people to use them with laptops or all in one computers, like iMacs. Lots of space for all my stuff. I was unsure about the plastic fasteners holding the desk surface to the frame. It all seems remarkably sturdy so I'll rate this five stars for now. I like the look at the desk and the fit and finish looks and feels like quality.
Nice price, adjustable height screw broke easyAnonymousContrary to what another reviewer said my laser mouse (logitech brand) works fine on the white desk. I haven't had any issues with it. The only problem I had is that the piece that screws in the desk leg was stripped when we tried to adjust the height of the desk. One side worked great the other one didn't. I can't take it out to ask Ikea for a new piece, so I had to take the entire desk back. I purchased this desk bc the height was adjustable and I wasn't able to do so.
updated reviewAnonymous revieweri previously wrote a 1-star review for this product and immediately tried to modify or delete it, but was unable to. i wrote that optical mice don't track on the white surface. that was an overstatement on my part---mice work, they're just less responsive. i had switched from a mouse pad to mousing directly on the white and the difference was noticeable and it annoyed me and motivated me to write an overly critical review. if you mouse a lot, you probably won't be satisfied with mousing directly on the white. if you mouse relatively infrequently, you might be okay with the lesser responsiveness. i do think that the reduced responsiveness makes the white tabletop an imperfect product. the genius who countered my review by suggesting a mouse mat isn't as smart as he wants you to think. i've already tried a mouse mat, and they're too light to hold their position on a desk. if you check out some reviews of desk mats and pads, you'll notice a lot of negative reviews. that's because a perfect product either doesn't exist or will cost you a lot of money ($60+). a common issue is that they move around and thus require regular repositioning. if you use a mouse pad, or a trackball mouse, there's no reason not to buy the white top. for me it's been an issue because i have my mouse and a numpad in between the two halves of my split keyboard, and putting a mouse pad there would interfere with my placing of the keyboard halves. long story short: if you plan on mousing directly on your tabletop, i'd recommend buying a different color Bekant (assuming that mousing is better on those; i've read in many places that white surfaces present a mouse issue). apart from the mouse issue, i like this desk a lot. i needed a height-adjustable desk for ergonomic reasons (elbow and shoulder and neck pain from using a too-high desk). this Bekant isn't easy to adjust but once you do it, it's done, and you can get to work. it's also surprisingly sturdy.
Nice table, sleek look, rounded cornersAnonymous reviewerAnyone complaining about the table being problematic because an optical mouse won't work on it and a mouse pad height (all 0.25 of it) causes significant personal problems needs a reality check and a dose of basic imagination. There's a very simple solution: MOUSE MAT. They're nearly paper thin (0.1), come in all sizes -- even large enough to fit under a whole keyboard and mouse to ensure they're at the same height. It's sad when an unimaginative consumer can't see past the box his product came in to solve his problems and then blames the product. The table is fine. Accessorize according to your needs, and you'll be happy with it. It's an inexpensive, adjustable, neutral colored solution. Height adjustable legs. Rounded corners won't scrape arms, hips, or heads (when little kids bonk their heads, as they do).
DON'T BUY WHITEAnonymous revieweri'm angry that i bought the white discounted desk. i suspect that it's discounted because IKEA realizes that they made a mistake making it in the first place. why am i upset? because mice don't work on it. if you use a trackball you'll be fine. if you use a mouse you'll have to come up with a solution. for some people it's as easy as buying a mouse pad. for me it's not that simple because i have a nontraditional desk configuration and the elevation of the mouse pad interferes with my keyboard. IKEA should alert customers to the fact that mice don't work on the white version. i've now spent over $60 on a couple (unsatisfactory) desk pads, all because i wanted to save $20 when buying the desk. here's a tip IKEA: if you don't want angry customers, tell us about your products' known defects before we purchase.

What is particleboard?
Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.
