Reviews

Not as hard as reviews suggest!! Great unit.JenVery happy with these so far. Assembled them quickly - I greased the plastic dowels with vaseline to make it slide together easily. Just put your body weight into it and it's not bad at all. I hope the finish holds up. I agree connectors should be free with the cabinet, or at least sold in smaller bags. I just screwed them together from the inside like with Ikea's kitchen cabinets.5
Effective and stylish storageCaseyI've read a number of reviews talking about extreme difficulty during assembly and nothing fitting together quite right. It is absolutely vital that you start the assembly process using the piece that has the printed number "1" on the side, as it has a slightly deeper groove than the other panels. If you fail to do this, the other pieces absolutely won't fit properly. You must locate the printed "1" panel and use it first.5
Hard to assemble the 4th wallDavidThree pieces fit together great, but the last piece is impossible… so much frustration and forcing it to work. You can choose between pieces not fitting together with holes in the seems or you can force it and break it to remove the gap but have part of the white insert gashes through the side..2
Extremely intuitiveGeoffreyWe purchased 2 of these to use as floating bedside tables in our guest room. They are by far the simplest, most intuitive Ikea assemblies I’ve ever done. It only took about 15 minutes to assemble both boxes, including the mounting hardware for the rail. Read the instructions. There is one piece labeled with a ‘1’. That’s your starting piece. Properly assembled, they appear to be well-made and sturdy. I haven’t mounted the rail itself, yet, but it will be simple from here. A template is included, for placement. Make sure your rail is level, drill 2 holes, insert anchors, attach the rail, and the box slips right into place. A perfect, affordable solution for our guest space.5
Incredibly hard to assembleDianeI've had and assembled IKEA items for 25 years, so I'm not new to how it works. The first one went together easily, the others are dang near impossible and I'm going to have to hire someone.1
Good luck putting this togetherKatlynnThey've done away with their standard cube assembly and in it's place is a click lock system with a plastic nob to slide into place in particle board. The force needed to do this isn't negligible and you fail and ruin the sockets if you don't have it aligned on the first try.. buyer beware. This is cheap for a reason3
Find the piece labeled number 1!! StephenOne side has a deeper grove for better fitting!! It’s very discreetly labeled with a 1. You have to start with the deeper groove with the pegs so the back piece can slide back further to attach the last side. That’s why so many of the reviews say that some were easy to put together and others were impossible to assemble. They go together as easy as the video if you find the correct piece to start with. If you lay the two pieces with pegs side by side you will be able to see the difference. You will attach the side with a shorter grove and pegs last for easy assembly. 5
Disappointed & Poor Assembly Anonymous reviewerSo disappointed that I could not get the last corner to work. Tried for hours. Ugh.1
Love these cubes for storage!DianeLove these cubes and assortment of colors! Useful for storing Lego projects, books, toys, etc. The simplicity and functionality of the cubes allows creative placement anywhere extra storage is needed. 5
Clean and simpleSylviaEasy to assemble5
Not worth the frustration of assembly, inconsistent qualityJasonI ordered 6 of these total: 2 were easy to assemble, 2 required patience/mallet, and 2 were near impossible to put together. Poor, inconsistent quality overall. Looks like the value of the product went down from $20 each to $15 which speaks for itself. The ones that assembled fine looks nice but frankly not worth it. 2
Good materialSaraGood performance easy to assemble 5
Easy to assemble IF u follow directions carefullySaraWell designed and easy to put together IF you follow the directions and don't skip a single step... I cannot stress this enough. I find this with all the IKEA things I've assembled. Put it together on a carpet and lean with your weight to press the pieces together and don't put the 4 sides together before you put the back in like I did!5
ridiculous waste of moneyJamesThe video that shows the woman on the carpet putting one together is a lie - if you look closely after she fits the last side on you'll notice that the back panel isn't set properly. I only bought one and it's going in the dumpster because it's damaged and would cost too much to return. This is my last adventure with IKEA - too much trouble and now it's even more costly.1
Extra Parts required!!!!!!JohnIkea does not openly state the need for a mounting rail if you're going to attach them to a wall as a free floating shelf. You have to dig into the "good to know" drop down on the website. The tags in the showroom should explicitly state necessary wall mounting hardware is not included and a separate tag for that hardware should be displayed, or a bin full of parts should be placed at the display.1
Cannot out togetherRandallI’ve watched the videos online and I cannot get the last corner pieces to line up. I have been fighting with it for over an hour and now the particle board is flaking off. I am P!SSED! 1
Great storage Leigh AnnDurable materials. Easy to put together without tools. These have many uses. 5
Extra Shelf in BathroomHindeWe needed a little more shelf space in our master bathroom and these are perfect! Sturdy and a great hanging system, the weight is very evenly distributed and solid on the wall. (Plus, it comes in a range of great colors!) Yes, this cube shelf exceeds my expectations!! 5
not hard to put together if you folow directions. LoriOk so putting these together, at first we were like, What! These do not go together as easy as the video shows. YES they do. One side is marked 1. Start with that one , do your sides then te last end. It slides right in, with a bit of pressure to lock as they all do. But the last side the grove isn't as deep so it goes right in. It's not a design flaw it's a user error! These are nice, sturdy and great size. I used them in my livibgroom on the wall with wall anchors from ikea. These literally take less then 3 mins to build. 5

EKET Cabinet, white, 13 3/4x9 7/8x13 3/4 "

From grandfather's fishing boxes to playful storage

When product developer Petra Kammari Enarsson was a young student and often moved, she used to furnish her apartments with old fishing boxes given to her by her grandfather who lived on the west coast of Sweden. Years later, when Petra was developing the new EKET storage series, those boxes came to mind. How could she make the series as flexible as the boxes?

New technologies, new hobbies, a new family member ... both small and large changes affect life and people's needs at home, especially when it comes to all the things that we need space for. Petra Kammari Enarsson is a product developer at IKEA and often visits the homes of customers to experience their everyday living and how good storage can make life at home a little easier. She remembers a family in Copenhagen which expanded every other weekend with the daughter from a previous relationship. ”She didn't have her own room, but the family had a solution where she had a loft bed in the living room and her private things were in a chest on the floor”. Petra thinks it's a good example of how more and more people are living in small spaces, and that a large part of everyday living takes places in the living room where we want things to be both practical and stylish.

Flexible furniture for new needs

Another obvious trend around the world is that many people move more often - just as Petra did when she was young. ”The problem is that a lot of storage furniture is so inflexible – upon moving or new needs arising, they can't be adapted. This means storage isn't optimal and it's difficult to keep track of all your things”. These insights inspired Petra and her colleagues to start looking at a more flexible and personal storage solution – something that can easily be updated so that people don't have to buy new furniture as soon as something in life changes. Petra then started to think about those fishing boxes she had when she was young and which were so easy to stack and move as needed. What if you could make a piece of furniture which consists of various smart modules that can be easily moved around, removed and added to?

Building with blocks

Petra and her team started by ordering cardboard boxes in various sizes. They took the boxes to different room environments where they moved them around like building blocks – stacking and combining them in various ways. The team also researched detailed facts about storage: on average, how many magazines do we have at home? What’s the ideal height for people to put down their mobile phones? ”Many of us put keys, telephones or bags in a specific place when we come home. We usually do it automatically, without thinking about it”, says Petra. The height that seems to suit most people is 31½", so a shelf at that height was a given in the mix of shelves, drawers and cabinets in different colors and styles that eventually became the EKET storage series. ”I'm so pleased that we chose to prioritize playfulness and freedom of choice with all the colors and sizes of EKET”, says Petra, who's looking forward to visiting more homes. ”I think that the customers will find lots of exciting combinations that we haven't even thought of!”.

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fiberboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
