Expandable+Wood!KatieI have a small condo so getting a small table that can expand was really important. The expansion mechanism and just press, pull, and click to lock in place with mostly metal components (if you look at other expandable IKEA tables, the locking mechanisms are mostly plastic now). Table is mostly wood (the under frame is mix of solid birch, pine, ash veneer). Table top finish is a bit rough but hoping it’ll hold up. Legs take a bit of adjusting so the sides line up with the frame to make sure it doesn’t jut out. Legs and expandable piece finish are a tad different from the under frame and table top but it’s not that jarring. Noticeable though. Sad that this will be discontinued as it’s a great price point and seems like it’ll hold up.5

Imprecision IssuesClaireI was needing a very specific dimension of table and IKEA delivered on that front vs my usual secondhand purchases. Scheduling delivery became a hassle. Then when putting the table together one of the bits that is used to tighten down a screw wouldn't fit because the hole was not drilled large enough. Then three large screws wouldn't even go in to their holes because the track for the expansion part of the table was blocking almost half the hole. I got one side to work by prying the track away from the sides and shoving in a screw before it closed but then the other side was even harder. Table still technically works but not as physically sound as it should be. 3
Extremely pleased! CareyWe love the basic size and how it can expand easily. We have used the leaf section to assemble a puzzle and if we are not finished, we have tucked it away, in the holding area under the table, to finish later in it's holding area. Kids have gotten paint and other crafting materials dried on the table, but it easy to clean off. It has been put through its paces by my kids and still looks great. Would definitely recommend. It is also a great price and was simple to assemble.5

I didn't want to give up floor space on a large fixed size table, so I got this extendable table. It is perfect for my needs. Its approx. 4 ft long retracted and approx. 71" long extended. It's modern, and a true bright white finish with a faint wood grain showing under the paint. I use place mats, but the top seems durable. I am very satisfied with this table's appearance and function. 5

Assembling the Ekedalen table went pretty well.LauraOverall, it went pretty well. I have only assembled simple items - this was more complicated than anything I'd attempted before. It's much easier with 2 people. I don't know if I could have done it by myself. I had to make a couple of tweaks. One tweak included having to move the interior rail which is used to pull the table apart for the extension. Screws were to go in pre-drilled holes, and the screws weren't able to go in on one side. This piece was blocking the holes. Fortunately, the piece could be pried and it popped off to move further down it's track. Also, it wasn't entirely clear about the direction of the latch and I had to reposition that, as well. The table legs aren't entirely flush with the rest of the table - by a smidge. It's probably something only I will notice. It is certainly a solid table and looks great. The latch works properly and it slides well for the extension. I can do this myself, which I wanted! Now, we will see how it lasts over time.4

Almost 5 years later and in perfect shape. BonnieThis table is in a corner of our living room and we use it all the time for puzzles and board games. I bought the dark one online during the pandemic and IKEA delivered it within the week! It was a bargain, and I don't think the price has gone up since then. Simple, clean lines with solid engineering. 5
