De facto an "always on" light, not a night light.ScottI should have listened to the other negative reviews here. Even on a sunny afternoon, it still stays on when I plug it in just a few metres from a window. In my dining room it just never turns off, even if the overhead fixture is on. (And no, flipping it didn't help.)
Plus the little grill on it means that if you look down at it you see the LED bulb undiffused, which is harsh even in the day time and horrible for a night light.
This is perhaps the worst Ikea product I've ever gotten. Maybe at a third the price it could get the "well at least it's really cheap" leniency, but plenty of better options exist elsewhere for essentially the same price.

sensor doesn't detect slightly dim lightsJaysunThis light from IKEA doesn't work as well as other similar ones that I have. When we dim our lights slightly, or just have normal daylight, this light turns on (unnecessarily) while my other similar lights remain off. This light is also brighter than my other similar lights, but kinda in a harsh way for our small room.
If the sensor and brightness could both be turned down, it'd be a great bargain.

Does not work as it shouldCarlosThe item comes with a light sensor to turn off during daylight. Well good luck with that. It just don't work. The light it only goes off if a direct strong light points at it. Like sunlight or a flashlight.

The first 3 I bought like more than 15 yrs ago. My father in law even asked for one so I gave it to him.
We bought 3 more to plug them around the other bedrooms and bathrooms. You can't beat the price and you can turn the head so you can direct to light the floor not your eyes. We cannot live without these! Highly recommend! after 15 yrs+, LED light is still going!
Ljuster JennyI love this little night light! It is perfect on the bathroom and in halls. It is just bright enough to see where you are going. No need to turn on lights and wake anyone up. The price is great. I have paid much more for night lights that close to being as nice.
