For little ones on big adventures
The very first time with your newborn, you are both out on a real adventure. The development from when your baby starts focusing its gaze to when you are greeted by a first smile and the little hand feels its way is pretty amazing. SANDBI baby toys are there throughout this journey to help the baby develop different senses and familiarise with the world around.
On SANDBI play mat, you can lie close to your child to start exploring the world together. βResearch shows that one of the most important things for a child in the early days is closeness, and hearing a comforting voice, perhaps recognised from the time in the wombβ, explains Karin Blindh Pedersen, product developer at Childrenβs IKEA.
Play that lasts a long time
As the childβs eyesight, hearing, and motor skills develop, SANDBI offers more to discover and talk about. Like that the owl on the play mat has wings that crinkle, and that the ball jingles as it rolls. βSimple as it is, the ball is great when the baby is about to start understanding the world aroundβ, Karin says. The theme for SANDBI is the Scandinavian forest with its plants and animals. βFor the child, it doesnβt matter that itβs specifically an owl on the play mat, but for you as a parent, and perhaps an older sibling, itβs something tangible and fun to talk about with the new family memberβ.
Time for rest
Childrenβs IKEA turns to experts and new research so that all toys are safe and follow the childβs needs and development. Research also shows that rest is just as important as play for the childβs progress, to sort and process all impressions. Then the music from the musical toy can signal that itβs time to sleep. βAnd perhaps the worm crawling through the apple can inspire a little bedtime storyβ.

An exciting journey of discovery
Our SANDI childrenβs series is built on deep knowledge about childrenβs development during their first year β a period where primary colours and peculiar sounds spark curiosity, and the baby starts to explore the world through its body and play; seeing, hearing, touching, pushing and lifting. Our SANDI products are designed to stimulate this exciting journey of discovery and contribute to the important interaction between you and your baby.
