Home visit: one bedroom, three looks with textiles
Before you repaint or replace any furniture, see how stylist Ashlyn created three new looks just using just textiles…

Look 1: Elisa’s style Every bedroom has its unique features. The rustic terracotta floor tiles and painted window frames make Elisa’s room special to her, so Ashlyn chose colour-block textiles and a patterned fabric to really bring them to life.
Look 2: Tactile textures Paring back colours brings texture into focus – as it’s wintertime, try fluffy sheepskins and knitted throws. For a handmade touch, layer a sheer lace curtain over neutral-coloured fabric. You’ll only need to stitch the top edges, so the rest hangs loosely.
Look 3: Graphic patterns A clash of patterns is easier to get right than you think. By coordinating colours in the bedspread and the curtain that covers the open wardrobe, Ashlyn made this look feel calm and collected.
Elisa felt inspired by the three new looks, especially as a love for textiles is sewn into her family history. ‘Fabric is a beautiful tool. My mother and I use fabrics to make clothes to sell in my gift shop. My grandmother also used to be a seamstress,’ says Elisa.
