Can I pair two remotes to the same TRÅDFRI LED lights?

It is possible to pair two remote controls such as the STYRBAR/RODRET to the same TRÅDFRI LED lights with or without our IKEA Home Smart app. The new remote controls called BILRESA on the other hand can't be paired 2 to the same lamp.

STYRBAR/RODRET Pairing without IKEA Home Smart-appen:
 
  1. Pairing the first remote control: Start by Pair one of the remotes with the TRÅDFRI LED lights.
    OBS: Leave the lid open after pairing the remote control and the light source. You will need to access the button by the battery in step 3.
  2. Reset the second remote: Reset by pressing the pairing button on the back of the remote under the battery cover four times quickly (within five seconds). A red light on the remote control will then flash quickly and then switch to pulsing, then the reset is complete.
  3. Keep both remotes close to each other: The next step is to press and hold the pairing button on the back of the remote under the battery cover of both remotes at the same time for at least 10 seconds. A red light will start flashing, and once the remotes have been paired, the lights will stop flashing.
  4. The pairing is now complete: both remotes can now control the same TRÅDFRI LED lights.
 

STYRBAR/RODRET Pairing with IKEA Home Smart-appen:
 
  • Add all devices to the Home Smart app: Open the IKEA Home Smart app and add all the lights and remote controls you want to use, by following the instructions below.

    Here's how:
  • Launch the app on your mobile or tablet. Go to "Add Device" or tap the plus sign (+).
  • Select the type of device you want to add, such as a light, remote, motion sensor, or other device.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to put your device into pairing mode.
  • The app confirms when the pairing is successful.
  • Repeat the process for each device you want to add.
 
  • Create a lamp group (optional but recommended): Go to the "Rooms and groups" In the app, create a new group or select an existing group, and add the lights you want multiple remotes to be able to control.
  • Connect the controllers to the lights or the lamp group: Go to the settings for each remote in the app, select "Pair devices" and select the lamp or lamp group to control, repeat this for each remote control you want to pair with the same lighting.
  • Test the feature: Make sure that all remotes are working as expected. Press the buttons or use the dimmer function to control the lights. If something doesn't work, check that the devices are properly paired in the app.
 
BILRESA pairing does not work.
It is not possible to pair two BILRESA remote controls to one smart LED light.
