What capacity does my extractor hood need?

Choosing an extractor hood with the right capacity for your kitchen is essential for you to have the most satisfying experience possible when cooking. The capacity of the extractor hood you need is determined by the dimensions of the room your kitchen is in.

You calculate how many cubic metres of air you have in your kitchen by multiplying the floor area by the ceiling height in the kitchen. If you have an open floor plan, count the volume of the kitchen area + half the volume of the rest of the area. The air should then be changed between 10-12 times an hour. The capacity is stated in cubic metres of air per hour (m3/h).
Example: If your kitchen is 3x6m and the ceiling height is 2.4m, the cubic meter will be 43.2 (3x6x2.4). To find out what capacity the extractor hood needs to have, we need to multiply by e.g. 10 (Because we want the air to be replaced between 10-12 times per hour) We now know that the extractor hood´s capacity needs to be at least 432m³/h.
