How does the measurement and measurement service for kitchens work at IKEA?
Our kitchen measurement service is a straightforward process designed to provide you with the accurate foundation you need for your kitchen plan. Here is a step-by-step guide to how it works, from initial enquiry to receiving a complete set of measurements ready for your design.
- Get inspired: Start dreaming and exploring by browsing our kitchen inspiration galleries or experimenting with our online kitchen planners.
- Check availability: Comfirm that the service is available to you by using our online booking tool.
- Prepare the space for measurement: The kitchen must be prepared before accurate measurements can be taken. Walls and ceilings should be fully finished (for example, with plasterboard in place). All plumbing, gas, and electrical connections must already be in their final positions. The area must also be clear and safe for the technician to work in, so remember to remove items from worktops and ensure the space is accessible.
- Booking: You can book your appointment online through our online booking tool or by talking to a co-worker in the kitchen department of any IKEA store.
- Pay for the service: The price for the kitchen measurement service at IKEA is 1,295 kr. Payment must be made to IKEA using your chosen payment method.
- Changes and cancellations: If your plans change, you can reschedule or cancel your appointment. If you want to cancel or change your service order, please contact IKEA.
- Confirmation: You will be contacted by the measurement technician at least 24 hours before your appointment for final confirmation of the time and address.
- Prepare your requirements or constraints: Be prepared to point out hidden objects that may affect the design (such as hidden pipes) and make the technician aware of any other restrictions, such as where to park or how to find the address.
- Arrival and duration: The technician will arrive at the beginning of your booked appointment. The visit can take up to 120 minutes, depending on the complexity of your kitchen.
- What the technician does: The technician will take photos and record all the necessary details, including room dimensions, the placement of windows and doors, any obstructions, and all supply connections (water, gas, electricity, and ventilation).
- Your role: Please be available to point out hidden features and answer any questions the technician may have.
- Confirmation of Service: Once the measurement is complete, you will be asked to sign a form to confirm that the measurement service was completed to your satisfaction.
- Receive your measurements: It can take up to 5 days after the visit for your kitchen's exact dimensions to be shared with you and with IKEA.
- Next steps: You can now book a kitchen planning appointment with one of our kitchen specialists to start designing your dream kitchen. You can also use our online kitchen planner to confidently begin creating your perfect kitchen design using the measurements from the visit.
