How do I know if my cookware can be used on an induction hob?
For an induction cooktop to work properly, your cookware must be made of a material that is magnetic. This means that, for example, cookware made of stainless steel and cast iron usually works well, while glass, copper or aluminium cookware usually doesn't.
Induction hob use magnetic fields to heat cookware directly, which means not all pots and pans will work. If you're unsure whether your cookware is induction-compatible, here are a few simple ways to find out:
Check the material
Induction require magnetic material.
- Works: Cast iron, magnetic stainless steel, enameled cast iron.
- Does not work (if they don't have a special underside): Aluminum, copper, glass, ceramic.
Conduct a simple magnetic test
Take a regular fridge magnet and place it against the bottom of the cookware.
- If the magnet sticks firmly, your pan is induction-compatible.
- If it barely sticks or doesn’t stick at all, the cookware likely won’t work.
Check the label
Many modern pots and pans feature an induction symbol—usually found on the bottom or packaging. This symbol, which often resembles a coil or a series of loops, indicates that the cookware is designed to work with induction cooktops.

If you are having trouble starting the hob, it could be because the overheat protection is activated, there is an issue with the fuses, the control panel is wet, your fingers are wet, or the child lock is activated. Make sure you have dry hands and that the control panel is dry and clean. If it still doesn't start, check the fuses connected to the hob.
