Why is my induction cooktop making noise?

Induction has several advantages and makes cooking both easier and faster - plus, the cooktop is easy to clean after use. Sometimes the induction cooktop can make some strange noises during use. Is this normal? The answer is most commonly yes.

Noise can occur on certain induction cooktops in combination with certain pots and pans. Different vessels produce different sounds based on material, construction, shape, air pockets in the steel membranes that the bottom is made of, uneven bottom, and more.

A ticking sound comes from the cooktop.
Cause: The cooktop has a power limiter on the zones. Solution: It is normal for your cooktop to make a light ticking sound, which is caused by the power limiter on the zones. A soft ticking sound can also be heard at lower settings.

Noise occurs from the cooktop during use.
Cause: The cookware is made of several materials, the cooktop is at high power, or you are using several cooktops simultaneously. Solution: High-frequency sounds come from the cookware, not the cooktop. The sound occurs in cookware made of several materials layered on top of each other. It is caused by the vibrations that occur in the surfaces between the different joined materials. The described sounds are normal and are part of the induction heating technology and are not a sign of malfunction.

A whistling sound occurs from the cooktop during use.                                                                                                                                          Cause: If several cooking zones are used simultaneously or at high power with cookware made of different materials, noise can occur. A whistling sound can also occur if you heat an empty vessel. Solution: It is not a sign of malfunction, and the sound can disappear with the use of a different type of cookware.

A low humming, hissing, or buzzing sound comes from the cooktop during and after use.                                                                            Cause: The cooktop has a built-in cooling fan that prevents the electronic components from overheating. Solution: The product has a cooling fan to extend its lifespan. There is nothing wrong with the product. The cooling fan may also make noise for a while after the cooktop is turned off.

All these sounds are completely normal, and most of them come from the cookware. If you want to minimize the sounds, you can try using different cookware.
