Can I request a VAT refund on my goods?
As a private customer, you can get a VAT refund if you export the goods from the EU. As a business customer with a business abroad, you can apply for a VAT refund both when exporting within the EU and to countries outside the EU.
- You are a private customer and take the goods out of the EU.
- You are a business customer and have a company registered abroad (outside Sweden). As a business customer, you can apply for a VAT refund both when the goods are exported to another EU country and to a country outside the EU.
2. Basic conditions
- The total amount of the purchase must be at least 200 SEK including VAT.
- The goods must have been taken out of the country by the end of the third month following the date of purchase or delivery.
- You must apply for a VAT refund within one year from the date of purchase.
3. Special rules for private individuals exporting to Norway or Åland
- The total amount must be at least 1000 SEK excluding VAT.
- The goods must have been taken out of the country within 14 days from the date of purchase or delivery.
4. How to apply for a VAT refund
- The application must be made within one year from the date of purchase.
