Howard Echalar | Logistics

I started as a Logistics co-worker back in IKEA Jeddah. My main task was making sure that all sales location were full, that every pallet in the storage was safe and to ensure that all our customers had a good shopping experience at the lowest possible cost. My previous manager saw my potential and by accepting new challenges and responsibility, I grew and improved in the Logistics department with the support of my leaders & colleagues. With the right training and right attitude, I am now the Goods Flow Team Manager for IKEA Pasay City.

My main responsibility is to always give better service to our customers. This happens with proper coordination & communication to our Sales and Com&In partners in the store. By providing them with accurate data on our items in every single location, we can make sure that every customer receives the item they need in the most convenient way.

Warehouse planning is very challenging, at the same time, inspiring for me. I had doubts with my capabilities in the beginning but my manager gave me the trust and guidance I needed, which then allowed me to learn and do it smoothly. Their support increased my confidence to say that I am happy and excited for the successful opening of our store.

IKEA values changed my life, how I see other people, how I act, and the way I work inside and outside the store. This is because I keep our IKEA values close to my heart. Togetherness is my favorite because in times of pressure, I never feel alone. Someone will always tap my shoulder and say its ok, we can make it. This makes me feel motivated to go to work every day.
